Are side exhausts allowed in the UK ?
I know they were not allowed in certain countries in Europe.

whats the reason for not allowing them in other countries? flames out the side and burn people on the pavement

No idea, but it might well be that an exhaust to the right is forbidden for pollution purposes (i.e. pedestrian inconvenience)... Check it, all European cars have their exhaust on the left. The SLR has a side exhaust, I think, but on the left.
