Good find. They've been experimenting in Belgium and France with the introduction of a Group GT-N.
The idea is to allow gentlemen drivers to enjoy themselves with powerful cars without having to revert to maintenance intensive and difficult to drive WRC's of S1600's.
Here the engine is left standard, and only minor improvements are made to enhance safety and strength of the car.
Most popular is the 996 GT3 of which Porsche made a whole batch at the end of its life for the GT Challenge in rallying.
Frederic Dor (a wealthy French rallyfan who also runs some Impreza WRC's) asked Prodrive if the could make a version of the V8 Vantage that would fit the GT-N regulations.
