...while were talking about what do you think...

What do you think ?

I know its not the same dynamically as an evo or scoob, but I dont think thats the point of the car tbh. Always like them, car i'd love to own at some stage and may be the change i'm looking for :?

Same thoughts as me Poesy, I love em because they are so different. more of a head turner than any evo/scoob as well IMHO. 8)

Noisy, impractical, and all the beter for it - its called character.

I think i prefer the rather more nasty MK1 version though.

Been thinking about one for a few weeks now and tried to talk to a few owners and learn a bit about them.

The Mk1s were made by TWR and suffer from bad build quility and have a number of reliability issues. Even their owners admit that. Some seem excellent, others terrible. Bit of a gamble as to which you get apparantly.

The Mk2s however were built by RenaultSport in the Alpine factory in Dieppe. So all appear to be spot on. The Mk2s have 3 years warranty which can be extended for a further 2 with Renault if you so wish. Think i'll aim for a mk2 cos I only really intend to keep it for a year and if it can then be sold on with only a couple of owners, low mileage and couple of years renault warranty remaining then hopefully I wont loose too much and will have a sought after example.

Sounds like ive already made up my mind, doesnt it!!!

certainly does sounds like you're mind is made up.

I know nothing about these cars, however can't recall ever seeing a mk2 in the flesh. exclusivity counts for a lot in my book (and clearly yours!) would be interested to find out more about them..

keep us posted...!

Forgot to add the mk2 has a little bit more poke too.

255bhp as to the 230 of the mark1 - which is nice

Safe level into RWD ownership is another factor i'm considering tbh. After 5 years of 4WD (2 evos and a scoob) the prospect of RWD both excites...and scares. The aim, as always, it to have fun, yes. But more importantly I wish to stay safe.

By utter coincidence, I saw one of these today!

55-Reg, MK2 (obviously), in Black.

It's certainly a 'Head-Turner'......looks and sounds great!

Although, a close inspection does reveal the humble roots of the car. If you stare at it log enough, you realise that it resembles a Renaultsport 182 in a Fat Suit!

That said...Would I buy one? Oh Yes! 8)
