For all those who just bought Evos (excluding Poesy)

Postby Gangsta Smurf » Tue Jul 18, 2006 11:17 am

Mitsi just announced the launch of the FQ360.

Together with that power upgrade that Ware are offering you are looking at 420bhp.

Hope you kept your receipts!!

That is actually a nice car - dont like the wheels, but they can easily be replaced - very tempting I'd have thought.

They have basically copied the ware upgrades though so I dont think there's much more to come from it with the standard internals and turbo.

I believe its a sort of mid-life jazz up for the 9 before the X arrives in '08 - looks good :thumb:

i think it's the age old argument about the set-up and what you get for your money really. 360 bhp may not sound much but with a full warranty and the potential then 35k is not really that much. considering that most of is paid 30k for a 315bhp car!! And that for 30k now subaru will only sell you a 299bhp car!

True.

Although even the 340 wasn't worth the extra money, I thought.

Paid 7k less for a new Evo 9 with more horses and a serious brake upgrade and a warranty that stayed untouched.

Poesy gave a :ok: tip there !

A French bloke who's got a standard Evo 9 280 also wants to get his car to Ware. Just a remap to 330 bhp would have costed him 4000 GBP in France !

Torrekens, youve done the sensible option mate. Yourself, spikey and dan have 3 fantastic cars there and had I know how things would develop with the 9 then I would have gone down that route too and not gone for the 400, even considered a trade tbh, but hay I wasnt to know. As a day to day road car yours are way better, and far more sensible than mine.

The way the 400 performed last sunday has convinced me to stick with it though. On track when its able to stay in its powerband it was fantastic, like a completely different car. And after all, the tube is my daily driver  - oh, dear, trying to convince myself its the right car again  Just have to get a few more track days in I suppose

Some extra info:

The engine mods applied by Ware (which are NOT covered by CCC Warranty!) are different to those applied to the FQ-360 (which are Warranty approved).

* Ware remove the Cat and apply their generic Ecutek upgrade, then they tweak the map to suit the particular car. In addition, FQ300s & 320s are fitted with an HKS high flow filter (340s already have one).

* The 360 has the standard Cat removed and it's replaced with a high flow 200 Cell (for longer life) Sports Cat. In addition, the standard fuel pump is removed and replaced with a Sytec / Walbro high flow item. Finally, an 'upgraded', although generic, Ecutek remap is applied. The filter is the same as the 340.

If it were up to me, I'd prefer to have the Sports Cat, Pump and Bespoke Remap. So neither of the above options is ideal!
Sold out and bought an EVO......then sold it because it was rubbish!

True.

Still a 7k difference in my case and pretty sure no dealer will notice the difference and not apply the warranty.

Also True! :D

Most will never notice a remap and will 'overlook' a De-Cat / Sports Cat.

......and in any case, European Law protects you for the rest of the car, from a Warranty perspective!
