New WRC-Tech Evo 9 packs

Postby The Swede » Tue May 23, 2006 2:28 pm

Looks like WRC has some new packages for Evo 9.

WRC420 for 3445 GBP...

Amazing is that the price is the same for the FQ300 as for the FQ340. Makes you wonder why you'd pay 5-6K more for a 340... :?

Seems like really good value. Anyone any reservations ?

Indeed...

Always puzzled why the Mitsi could get so much more horses for far less money than the STi...

Maybe mister Weltmeister can enlighten us...

Evos are far more tuneable for sure.

Its simply because the Evos engine layout is far better than the Impreza

Allan is the 420 pack the same price to fit to a 300 evo, as it would be to fit to a 340 ?

Thanks for the explanation here Mark.

(Let's just keep the discussion objective).

Would indeed appreciate Allan's input as the innocent/ignorant consumer, it really looks like a 'suspiciously' big difference between what they can get out of the Scoob and the Evo.

Due to the much better map and earlier boost in normal driving they pritty much leave me for dead !!!

I need to cancel the RS4 !

Ware Garages in Hertford do it - www.waregarage.co.uk or 01992 505251, speak to either Russell or Donald, both directors and both top blokes who rally evos and have huge knowledge.

I believe Gangsta dealt with Donald.

The Evo IX was such a leap forward compared to the VIII that it is really quite easy to get good BHP / Torque from them. The "secret" lies in the choosing a blend of parts that work in harmony and compliment each other. The base car is in essence irrelevant as long as its FQIX series.

We add an APS 3" turbo back exhaust
APS Front mount intercooler
APS Induction kit & Spray bottle
Uprate the fuel pump
Boost Controller
WRC Tech ECU Remap to suit

If it is a IX GT we change the turbo for one of our own spec as it is more robust [ adds c

Thanks for the explanation, Allan.

So group FQ300 buy and convert to 400 or 420 bhp (do we need a Peltor intercom to talk to the passenger with the latter one ?).

Spoke to Donald at Ware Garages. Sounds like he knows what he is talking about !

370-380 BHP (decat or sportcat), 360lbft. And not too expensive (800 GBP if going decat).

Suggested a good brake upgrade too.

Wonder if they also do nice gauges at Ralliart. :?

No warranty loss it seems, and a mapper who should know what to do with cold weather (he used to be the mapper for the WRC team...).

Faxed to Audi on saturday to say I am OK with a compromise but if I give, they need to give too. Still awaiting a reply...

Think I might do the Mitsi, run it for a year and order a 911 C4S for delievry next June or so. Defo want a 911, atlas grey, black leather.

If you intend running a new car for a year only then wouldn't you be better sticking with the Scoob and spending a little cash on it?

Sure, but got a good offer on the Mitsi meaning I could run the Mitsi for 50 quid per month more than keeping the lease on the scoob.
I'd spend money on mods in both cases. Just to get the scoob to anywhere near 350 BHP, I'd need to spend much more.

Also avoids putting cash down to buy the scoob, no warranty issues (new car), stops my wife wingeing about "blue with gold wheels",... and face it... the only reason I would want it, is because it's faster and should be still better on snow than the scoob.

So doesn't look like an unreasonable idea.

And as said, planning to stop the agreement next year and get a 911 C4S (God permit).

I'd recommend a brake uprade too, the brembos on the evos seem to struggle with only standard bhp !!!
