See, told you I'd be useful for something one day

I'd recommend a brake uprade too, the brembos on the evos seem to struggle with only standard bhp !!!

It's hard, but I got to admit: I appreciated your advice.

Brake upgrade was offered indeed. Same calipers which are said to be good (which I believe) but other discs, fluid and breaded hoses.

Should avoid overheating and as the discs are grooved, it should also avoid water build up on them (which I've issues with on several occasions with the scoob).

If the mods work well and the guy can also do me a good set of gauges to fit in the DIN slot in the dashboard, he'll be the daddy !

What I really appreciated is that his mapper seems to have experience with setting up a car for cold weather too (as he's mapped the rallycars for Rally of Sweden). Most other tuners run 3 miles away when I ask if they know how the new mapping is going to react to intake air of -40C or colder (with the wind from driving, probably colder even)

Ware Garages do know there stuff - ive purchased 3 cars from them. Warranty issues always dealt with immediately, minimal fuss to get you back on the road asap - cant recommend them enough.

The IXs with the upgrade really are superb - sometimes think it would have been a better route for me, but hay its done now and I wasnt to know at the time.

My colleague has the brake upgrade - Performance Friction i believe - which is a definite improvement. But it may be worth enquiring about the AP Racing 6 pot conversion they do, especially if trackdays are going to become more frequent. Remember the brembos are basically the same as those supplied on the evo 5 which "only" had 276bhp and weighed some 100 kgs less !!! An initial expense I know but you may appreciate it in the long run. Just a thought.

Awesome vehicle though with the engine upgrade - forget the Audi, go for one of those :thumb: ...although obviously i'm very biased

It does sound like a fantastic option. I would be telling porkies if I said I hadn't considered this option.

Age old problem though... I just love the Scooby noise. Shame about the marjority of Scooby drivers though. The Pudsey gang could be growing!

Ahhhhh, the scoob noise is pure

I think it comes down to what you want from a car. I used my scoob everyday, was my only car, never broke, sold with 90k on the clock - perfect car.

My evos have been run as second vehicles only because they just dont do the daily routine as well as a scoob - FACT. However, for taking out for a blast once every week or two then the evo has it for me. Not necessarily faster or slower, because at these levels it really comes down to the driver (and youll have noticed I was even slower than spike  ), but just more of an event.

I use my Scoob like you.. as a spare car. However, that's why I feel the noise is EVEN more important for those occasional trips out when you want to turn into a Menace for the day.

Talking of a menace, my wife is trying to get an ASBO at the moment. Bad girl!

If we all liked the same thing, life would be very

If your happy with what youve got, why change ? Just get out there and enjoy 8)

Question - why does the misses want a Focus anyway ? Thought she had a nice BM :?

Yes... but the Scooby is getting on a bit now. It will either get modded or changed. Unfortunately there isn't another Scooby I would change it for so it would have to be time to swap it for an Evo (you will only ever truly know you feelings on a car if you live with one for a while) or sell the weekend car and live without it whilst saving for a 911.

Fair enough.

Start saving for the 911 then me thinks.

Not sure i'll have another scoob/evo type vehicle. Type of owners/image have changed considerably over the past couple of years (and not for the better) so i think i'll have a change next time round.

I love the scoobs, and definitely would feel like not doing the right thing in this crowd.

Issue is that Subaru is not doing a WR1 anymore and that the STi 06 just doesn't measure up anymore. The 2.5 is cr@p and the teenage blue interior just is stupid.

Plus, the Evo now offered is financially just a good option as the car is only 27K and the upgrades are not too expensive.

Still planning to order a 911 for delivery next summer. 911 Carrera 4S, Atlas grey, black leather, 8)

There's an 80% chance I'll be buying an EVO IX tomorrow.

......but the appeal of the WR1 is hard to ignore.

It's gonna be a hard decision to make! :?

There's no doubt they know their stuff - very high up the list on the MLR for customer satisfaction too, about 4th or 5th I think.

Only ever deal with Russell or Donald though, whether its buying a 30k car or a 50p washer - they'll make sure you get exactly what you want every time.

I am a "Die Hard Scooby Fan"......but the new Impreza (UK Model) doesn't feel (or Sound) like a "Scooby".

The EVO IX has more character than the MY06 STi......which is a shame.

I will miss the WR1......In my opinion, it's the best UK Subaru ever made!

I will probably need to change my name to one of the following:

Leevo

Evoleetion

Leevolution

......or Tosser!!

Did deal 20 mins ago.

Silver, Ralliart mats and sills, reverse parking aid (still will be wife's runabout during the week...), Audio-CD pack and tracker.

Car to go straight for a Ralliart upgrade (keeps the warranty it seems), brake kit and gauges.

Scott Lowe Carbon fibre mudflaps on order with Ralliart logo. Same for PIAA windscreen wipers (carbon look).

Will leave the rubber nicely standard. Good enough, keeps car well sorted on small roads and will get studded rubber in October anyway.

Yoko A046s aren't E-Marked, so you can't buy new ones when they wear out. Consequently, I've decided that I should get some better wheels now and use the money from selling the wheels and tyres delivered on the car to offset the cost! (Dealer has already arranged the sale).

Didn't buy the car there.

Guys from Swindon did the best deal on the 320. Donald straight away said he could never match it.

The car was just set on the road to be a demonstrator and had 50 miles on the clock. Got it offered for a fantastic price.

Ware will however do the mods and they sound very :ok:
