What on earth would the new 911 Turbo have to do with the waiting list on an Audi :?

Simple, at the moment, there seem to be quite a few idiots (with more money than common sense, let alone guts !) who put their name down for an RS4 just because... they like the way it looks

There is quite a market for people who want the latest-greatest (or better, latest-flashest) in German motoring engineering without actually ever needing the performance of the car.

Drove one last week and the salesman told me he had quite a few guys around for the RS4 driving Miss Daisy. :shake:

Maybe Audi should bring an RS4 look-a-like pack. Same as Porsche might bring a Turbo look-a-like pack for the 911.

errrrr welcome to the world of car sales!!!!

The performance and driving upgrades on cars like these are barely noticeable so people will generally go for the look rather than having a lower centre of gravity, different turbo etc etc etc. Look at the new STi compared to the old one!! Drives exactly the same, corners exactly the same, accelerates exactly the same, but looks different.

In any case you can't compare an RS4 to a Porka Turbo. RS4 is an old mans car and generally bought by friendly men with beards. Turbo is a hyper car and there can be no comparison. Go up to any person under 40 and say what would you rather have if we offered you a free car. Porsche 911 Turbo on an Audi RS4!

So the question remains :

What has the new 911 Turbo got to do with the waiting list for an Audi :?

I would say that the old man with the beard invites you over to come and show what you can do with your whatever Turbo when he has his RS4, but you'd probably be too chicken to take up the challenge. Girls ! :2:

PS: Would you mind spreading the opinion on the RS4 on other forums too ?

Would be great if few people would cancel their order 8)

dude Audi RS4s are expensive and over-rated. If I had one I'd be annoyed that I couldn't afford to own the RS6 - which is better.

Secondly a 911 Turbo would rip one to pieces, you cannot put the two anywhere close.

In any case this thread is about the 911 turbo - you still haven't answered poesy's question as to why the Audi popped into the equation????

Bar the fact that I still need to see you in action before I am a 'dude', please note I never said the RS4 would be a match in performance for the 911 Turbo. It would be a shame if it were.

Both cars seem to have people buying them because of looks however. There just seems to be this group of people with enough money to buy such toys but who will never use more than half the power. They buy it because its looks

Just check yourself, all reactions here are about how the cars 8) looks. Ask the question how many actually are able to exploit the extra power over and above what a well driven 911 S could do.

Only place the extra power really can be used is in its native country.

Would be nice if Porsche did a turbo-look again as they did in the '80-s.

As on the RS4 vs RS6, I think opinions will be devided. I've driven both and the RS6, despite being a very fast car in straight line, just was not as light-footed when pushed over small country roads at full tilt.
And as racing from one traffic light to the next one with other posers is not my thing anymore, the RS4 gets my vote.

The RS6 is starting to look too dated now.

The new one which is due in 2007 and was said to have 550 BHP may well be a different story, although the A6 it's based on is a BIG car so i'd guess that the RS4 will handle a lot better.

Unfortunately this looks like an S3.

Just wondering what engine will go into that thing. Sure must be more powerful than the current 3.2 V6. But there isn't a lot of room left under that bonnet anymore... :?

An RS3 might be a bit far hetched unless they manage to turbocharge the 3.2V6 or put a VERY powerful 2.0TFSI into the car.

I was indeed impressed by how lightfooted the RS4 was compared to the M5, E55 or RS6. It felt more like a 911 4S to drive than a reasonably heavy saloon.
