Modifications - no, really!!!

Postby POESY » Thu Mar 02, 2006 12:42 pm

Right, as you will by now know i'm sure, I completly disagree with the idea of modifying a car - and i'm right, no questions please

However, i'd just like to discuss the modification i have planned for my evo this weekend

Yesterday I recieved a lurvely set of carbon fibre mudflaps through the post from Scott Lowe. Looking forward to fitting them Saturday and seeing how 8) they make the car look.

Anyone else done the deed - is it a tricky job ? Fitting kit + instructions look good, but I fear this may be lulling me into a false sense of security!!!

i have a set of Scott Lowe ones on mine. great quality and easy to ft (on a scoob anyway) - all the holes are there already.

One thing you should consider thhough - the ally brackets oxidise and look a bit tacky pretty quickly, so i powder coated mine and used some nicer bolts and the whole thing looks a bit more pukka now.

if you dont have access to powder coat, smooth hammerite will do the job.

Yes they indeed look :thumb: ! I really regretted not knowing these things existed when I got ours.

Still like the blue ones because they give the car a WRC-look. That is until Petter finds his way to Scott Lowe... :D

Why getting them painted ? I thought people bought them because of the 8) carbon fibre look ?

And if you do it for the weight, adding a layer of paint ain't gonna help you.

Or did I miss something (again) ?

Might be the other way round Marky, when Poesy took me for a spin in the FQ400 he did say, " come on wee ladie, a ride for a ride "(didn't really.)

I will have to have a word with Mr Lowe, I am on his list to get these carbon fibre mudflaps for my car and I have not received anything from him. I drive past his place and I have called in to see him a few times,[nice guy]. I hope you mentioned the WR1 owners club as he promised me some discount.

He is a spot on bloke your right - the carbon ones are due out in the next 2-3 weeks he recons and by the sound of it there's quite a queue. But i'm sure he'll get you sorted, my experience is that he's very honest and efficient.
I mentioned the gangsta mobile, not the wr1oc, but still got a good price.

I am getting confused here, I have just contacted Mr Lowe, and he told me he has not sent any carbon mudflaps out to anyone as he has not got the material yet :bang: :bang: :bang:

Yeah, ive given you a bit of duff info (got a bit over-excited) - ive got a set in black while I await the carbon ones, about 2-3 weeks he told me.

Have the carbon ones on order but couldnt wait any longer, trust me a white car needs mudflaps, so as they will use the same brackets and fixing positions i did a deal to get some on the car now but keep the cost down when the new ones are available - if you see what i mean :? Basically i think i pay for 2 sets of flaps but 1 set of brackets - but i'm confussed myself now!!!

Will put some pictures up at the weekend when the're fitted.

Yeah, I will have to eat some humble pie and retract the ticking off I gave him. I agree with you on the mudflap issue, all cars should have them, even if it's just to stop the stones being thrown back onto the cars following, that's where most stone chips come from.

As long as the car in front doesnt have them so low that they scrape on the floor, and therefore flick up stones.
