New clutch................already !!!

Postby POESY » Mon Dec 05, 2005 1:28 pm

Yup, gearbox is already out to be replaced, which is pritty good. Less than a week to agree to replace under warranty and get a new box to the dealer :thumb:

However, upon inspection,

clutch and flywheel both knackered - 10months, 7k miles,

Is this a problem with having the turbo kick in so high up the revs? Basically encourages you to drop the clutch at the high revs to get a good launch?

Didn't you say something about the FQ400 being more reliable than an Evo 9 340 that has undergone the WRC-tech 380 treatment ? :?

Sorry to hear you had so much trouble.

This stuff looks scary.

I need to have a closer look at these Evo's. Maybe getting a 9 340 is not a good idea anyway.

Never said it was more reliable but did point out it would have a warranty when it broke down - the WRC car wouldnt !!! So far ive had a new driveshaft, reset/remapped motec ecu and new gearbox all under warranty (starting to claw back some of the extra 15k already, the gearbox itself was apparantly around 4k). Imagine you had no warranty

Getting a 9 340 is a perfect idea - absolutely no problems whatsoever if you leave it standard. Only real drawback is having to pull over when you see a 400 in the rear view mirror (worth the extra 15k in itself)!!!

No probs:

1. There are no FQ400's around here.

2. I don't know any guy with an FQ 400 I would need to pull over for :2:

Dont worry about a 340 or 400 - you'd have to pull that thing of yours over for a 320
