I reckon it was a 140BHP TDI S-Line Audi A4 in which case that M5 must be quite slow as on the second run it flys off in front before the audi driver clearly eases off..

No RS4's have a single exhaust each side ! And they are the only audi which has seats like this

FPMSL- That looked more like an s-line with RS4 mirrors... could only see one exhaust if you pause it when the Mbarge pulls up to the lights...

And what is that rattling noise when he changes gear? Sounds like the wc in the rear cabin is a bit loose....

Would it really make any difference even if it was an S line with Chrome mirrors ! One day John, when you actually make a few quid, you may find yourself in a lucky enough position to actually afford one of these M5 beasts, and then you would realise, that truely non of this actually matters !

It's a bit hard to see whether the car in the video has one or two exhausts.

It would make sense for an M5 to beat an RS4 in a straight line given the power to waith ratio and the fact the M5 can fall back on an automated gearbox compared to a 6 speed manual much more dependent on the RS4's driver ability.

What is very clear though is what a cock you look driving a beemer

On paper the M5 is quicker but there isnt much in it... I would expect it to creep past not leave it for dust if both drivers were trying...

pmsl, you guys, the RS4's are only making about 370 on the dyno, M5's are making atleast 507, Audi are taking a lot of flack for over inflating there figures on a lot of the German forums.

A E92 M3 will destroy an RS4 never mind an M5 !

P.s That is an RS4 in the vid.

I don't agree with this statement.

Never had the chance to play with a M5.

I am with Bbigman on this. The RS4 did not feel as powerful as it should have been. I am hence not surprised it loses in a straight line.
The test I did with the R8 two weeks ago which has the same engine confirmed my feel around this: the car does not feel as fast as it looks. My Merc leaves that thing for death in a straight line.

Still, I would question the point of the straight line abilities. The RS4 is a fantastic car to blast along normal roads and I would have one any time for normal driving over an M5. On twisties, it leaves the beemer for death. And that has nothing to do with 4WD but simply because it's much better balanced and reacts much sharper in inputs.

If you go to 2.00 on this vid bro, you'll see the difference !!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axb19DwhqUk

Swede the lap time for an M5 round the ring is 8.13 the Rs4 is a respectable 7.58 which amaze's me, obviously I havent been there but the M5 must be losing out on the corners as the csl posts a 7.50 time, and as you know ive owned one, and whilst it is an awesome awesome car, the M5 is MUCH faster.

That sucks, defo need a garage once your buying 30k + motors bud, mine never gets parked anywhere but in full view or in my garage.

If bmw do as I think they are going to do with the M5 i.e put a TT V8 in it, I will NOT be buying a new one, i'll probably go for an M3 myself next.

The main reason why I didn't like the M5, was because it was completely helpless on twisty roads.

The M5 shouts a lot about itself until you ask it to slow down and get into a corner at which moment it starts to kangeroo around like and Austin Princess on drum brakes. :shake:

FPMSL - Glen, if I sold my assets now, I'd be able to buy quite a few M5's, one for each day of the week and one to drive into a wall just to show how bad they handle... or I might just moor one on the local canal in respect of it's handling....

But I'm saving up for an early retirement and all this material talk of owning £60k motors doesn't do anything for me, especially when you can have MORE fun and go FASTER than a £60k motor in a £10k grain of rice....

The only difference is that you are able to go fast in comfort.... with computers helping you get 0-60 quicker and computers telling you when to brake etc etc .... I'd rather do that myself for the extra £50k and become a better driver

Each to their own.

Tell her she now knows how my wife feels living with me... I would normally apologise but apart from the finale of single letter texts you were just as busy at texting me back... In addition, if you haven't got the gumption to put your phone on silent so as not to spoil your wife's TV viewing pleasure then one must question your ability to think? FFS John, I didn't think you were that dumb?
