The M5 against the Scoob wasn't in launch control as bigman says holding at 4500rpm and I can tell you it is a fecking awesome launch.

As for those things called 'corners' I thought the M5 handled them far better than I thought it would, in its top suspension setting it stiffens up a hell of a lot, so much so, I think the ride is even as harsh as the scoobs was if not more so.

The thing it lacks the most is a good sound track, they really failed to let the 5.0litre V10 sing when the M button is pressed.

Having riden in Dans new CSL with the sport button pressed it shows this up even more, the induction raw from that car is unbelievable 8) 8) 8)

I agree, they could have allowed a little more of the V10 to be heard presa 8) Delighted to hear your enjoying the car though, as I'm having a tough job telling the lads here just how good it really is.

I don't think you are having a tough job telling us how good it is, we know how good it is....BUT it's only "brilliant" in a straight line with all it's power but if you have the same power in a scoob or evo, it'll be just as good but will also go round the twistys better too.

The big plus for the M5 is that you can do all this in comfort watching Sky TV in your armchair.

Met up with Dan on the day he got the CSL, absolutely love the sound of the engine, he launched it a couple of times from the lights, agreed that I'd have this over the M5's V10 anyday for sound.

PMSL, John you'd be stunned at how the M5 actually deals with the twisties.
The difference between a well driven M5 and a 400bhp evo through the bends is negligible.

The CSL's are good, I did own one  I drove the absolutle arse out of it, again though you the M5 IS better 8)

The bloke in the Evo clearly couldn't drive it properly

I think we all remember this one. Of course, a Murcielago is not as good as an M5 and the BTCC driver behind the wheel is not as good as Clarkson, but still...

Heres the Vid, and as you will see, No launch control which could have shaved a fairly substantial .3 or .4 of a second off the lap time.

No it wouldnt, however all I can say to that is that 400/450bhp evo;s cannot make any head way against the M5 on my local testracks.

An evo running 400/450bhp is similar in performance, all it takes is one straight away though and they are finished.

Forget the EVO rice rocket, look what else it did it quicker than on that list, for a 5 door 1800kg+ car it is pretty special if you ask me.

Just a few.....

911 Carrera 2S
Lotus Exige!
Aston Martin Vanquish S
Aston DB9
Porsche 911 GT3
BMW M3 CSL

and over 3 seconds quicker than the WR1, although the stig did drive like a muppet in it as there's no way its slower than a standard STi!

I think it's time to leave this FQ400-M5 debat alone once and for all its getting very boring!
