Mate took me out for a spin and gave me a go of his new car, had to keep the revs down cause it's only done 300 miles.
I tried it on a quiet road on automatic, next time I might try the flappy paddle hoojiemaplokers!

Superb cars!! I saw one in the flesh at GC Motors in Harrogate yesterday, I can't believe how big ALL 4 exhausts are at the rear, it's like the WR1 prodrive each one!!

Must have been cracking to drive mate? Bet you can't wait to unleash the whole wrath under the bonnet..

Is he going to take it on a rolling road to see how much power this particular engine has made??

Oops ok

It's more like a GT I would say but hard to tell in the drive I had as I spent most of my time watching I didn't over rev it  I tend to be a bit heavy footed and it goes like stink! Once it's done 1200 miles I will get another shot and be able to judge better.

Interesting.

Although bit of a dissappointment. I was hoping this would be the next / ultimate scoob/Evo. Not a car to rival the M's, AMG's, RS's and Porsche Carrera's.

Its putting in some serious lap times in the hands of the press, so i think its more than a match for any evo/scoob/AMG/GT3/M tbh.

Lovely car, saw a red one in london the other week and it just looked 8)

I was actually not on about speed.

My Merc and my Evo are equally fast but from a driving point of view, they cannot be more different.

I was hoping the GTR would lean much more towards the 'ricerocket' than the AMG or Porsche style.

If things keep going like this, the Focus RS might soon be the only drivers car left bar some few very exotic machines :( :(

Would you not see the GTR as a direct rival to the porsche turbo coupe's swede ? For half the price.

Yes, I would. But the Porsche's are nowadays also GT's. There is no sense of 'event' anymore when you drive them. There is nothing to the car that tells you "If you don't treat me with utmost respect and drive like I want you to drive me, I'll kill you ! (or break down and leave you with a stupidly expensive repair)".

For a sense of 'event' you unfortunately need to start looking towards very exotic Italian machinery or the very niche products like an XTR.
The old scoobs and Evo's still had this feeling of being 'something special' when you start them up and drive them. Something that tells you you did not make compromises, if you see what I mean.

or I am a moody old Italian and I am just going to break down anyway even though you are driving me beautifully and just spent a fortune on servicing me.

Italian supercars, not for the faint hearted!

Indeed, although it's not only the Italians who made exotics.

I had the pleasure to visit the D'Ieteren gallery in Brussels yesterday and sit in my ultimate dream car... The Sport Quattro

When will you take me out in your Bora once, btw ?

Understood, and of course there will always be a place in my heart for the proper evo's and scoobs, so many years of so much fun, its very sad we are not here for longer.

I have to say the CSL does give you quite a back to basics feel aswell though like your fezza's etc.

Seen 3 CSL's at the last trackday I was at and I must say, they look like awesome pieces of technology. Light, powefull, sharp,... :D Plus they sound

Mark, my co-Team Principal looks after a dark blue Sport Quattro, also one of my favourite cars.

The Bora is entered in this years MSA Euroclassic in September so it is on my to do list to start organising getting it sorted - body shop, service etc.,.. - and once that is done, either before or after the event I'll take you out for a blast in it with the greatest pleasure.

What is the score actually on the sales of the GT-R in the UK? This looks like the most 'mysterious' car on the market.

Not only can you not get any info from Nissan about it whereas it is on their pricelist since donkey's years, the pricing in the market is also very 'weird'.

The car is on a waitlist and normally you'd expect a car that is on a waitlist to carry a price premium if you can have one straight away and for demonstrators to be sold at least at list price.
Here, even cars that are arriving soon in the UK through Nissan dealers are 10% cheaper than new.

Was there a hype and is the car not selling? Is Nissan trying to make it artificially rare to keep the value up?
