Not madly keen on the clio bigman - more of a megane man myself.

Had a clio Trophy for a year or so and although it was 100% reliable it was very harsh and uncompromising.

Although the new model is no doubt a more refined I prefer the meg cos it combines the performance with a lot more refinement - probably down to its larger size more than anything.

Well i'm a bit biased of course, but theyre right up my street.

Took the R26.R to bedford autodrome at the weekend and once i got used to the car and track we were flying - was well chuffed tbh - no way i'd have lapped that quick in the evo!!

Bonus is that its far more agreeable on the wallet too :D

Martin mate, easy to explain.

I was throwing the meg over kerbs that would have broken all the electronic crap underneath an evo - much easier mentally pushing a 20k car to the limit, rather than a 40k one - plus after 11 continuous laps it was still going strong, nothing overheated, faded, no warning lights came on and there was still plenty of feul left!!

Sure the evo is a faster car, but within the confindes of a track where really you make up your times in braking zones and carrying corner speed the gap is much narrower than out on the open road - which would explain why the R laps the evo test track nearly 0.5 quicker than an evo X.

Of course the M5 is still the fastest, best handling car ever  and it is one of those I want next rather than an Exige 260  ...

...err, no, that last bit isnt true :nono:

Fair point Neil !

Over 2 laps the evo is quicker, then it falls to pieces and runs out of fuel

As for the barge5 you could let all 4 tyres down and it would still beat all

I suppose it is a bit much to expect a forum full of jap motor lovers to accept that a german weapon can out do your tuned vehicles!

Even when I have owned 15 Jap performance cars myself ranging from 280 - 480bhp.

Thankfully I live a bit more in the real world and speak from actual tests and comparisons made during those years of ownership, I'm a realist, I can accept the M5's not so good points, but I guard my decision that overall it is better than any jap tuned motor!

I suspect if some of you gents could afford it you would be driving high end vehicles yourselves and of course I appreciate that the reason why I am driving the high value car and you are not is because I have that ability to make informed decisions and have a considerable amount of intellect lacking in many of you.

p.s note that presa has hardly been on forum since his purchase, that is because he is out there enjoying what as far as I am concerned is the second best car in the world, the best being the F430.

So bigman - when you buy a second hand GTR - i'm sure if you could afford it you'd be buying new cars  - will it be better than the M5??

Bearing in mind that overall its about half a minute faster than the BM around the 'ring, and that seems to matter, A LOT, to builders of "german weapons" Weapons that have so far won fcuk wars

Bro, Since day 1 I have brought entertainment (check back)

Imposter, I'm more than happy to accept the wind ups and banter, at the end of the day this is all my posts generally are, I can promise you though this one is staying 3 years atleast, simple reason being there is nothing out there worth replacing it with.

POESY - Not being funny but I buy brand new cars all the time for my company, and I have watches worth more than your cars  Unfortunatley as good as the GTR may be, it bothers me not as it is still a plastic two door jap boys toy which would do nothing for my credibility turning up at clients premises where the car parks are lined with German Machinery. I wouldnt expect you to understand how business works but unfortunatley those are the circles I work in.
