Why did you get a normal Range instead of a Range Sport ?
Key differences in driving ?
Having driven yours now for quite some time, how do you rate it? Pros-Cons?

True, would also never buy one if I would not take it off-road and use it as towing vehicle.
In my case, quite a few friends have actually said I really should buy a 4x4 as I always haul shitloads of stuff around, go off road regularly and have a caravan and a boat to tow...
S-class still does the trick though most of the time though (except for carrying larger objects).
Anyway, where the heck is Stu' when you need him?

double cab pick up? Navara, Dodge RAM, F150?
you can import a left hooker as a work truck can't you tax free?
I would go Disco 3 V8 if possible but the TDV6 is a good unit too, don't have the stigma attached like the RR, and just as good in my pinion.

I'd only ever go for a pick-up if I were a gardener or a builder and can actually do something with it.
I'm actually toying with the idea of swapping the Lexus in summer for a 4x4 when the Evo is gone too.
It needs to be a thing that can carry people and goods in comfort (and in the dry) and tow a big trailer over long distances (i.e. a quick drive to Prague from London for a long weekend should not make me grab the Merc straight away).
That's where the Disco TDV6 falls over. Too small engine to cover long distances at a reasonable pace without getting tired.
Plus, once e.g. the caravan is behind, that 2.7 V6 will have to move 5000kg... Me thinks that is not ideal.

So basically a load lugging, long distance cruising GT, 4x4.
RS6
more ground clearance...then
Q7
Cayenne Turbo S (if your blind)
Touareg V10 Tdi (you call pull your house behind you with this)
or the default RR...
Thought I had it tough trying to decide between an normal Sti and a WR1!!

Drove the Q7. Fantastic car on the road but a muddy carpark on rallyGB put it in trouble. Also hard to find 2nd hand at a reasonable price with the air suspension. (without air suspension, my S class has more ground clearance !)
The Cayenne is a bit pricey still for a reasonable car.
Touareg is indeed a nice 4x4 a good towing beast indeed. And the V10 has air suspension.
Actually, a RR would never have been the first car I'd look at in this category, although some people really rave about it. Hence my question to Stu'.

I just flew back from Prague to the UK last week and the entire airplane was full of people like yourself. Hence why I have reverted to driving.

Sorry for the delay. Got back from a "holiday from hell" on Saturday and still trying to recover.
What can I say, I love my RR. I've already considered changing it for the V8 diesel model.
I tried a few alternatives - Cayenne S, V10 Toureg, Disco, Volvo, Shogun, Amazon etc... None of them had the same comfort and superior feeling IMHO. Quickly the RR makes you look down at jap crap cars and their scumbag wannabe Tesco frequenting owners.
Towbar - never. I hate caravans and I hate people who buy caravans.
Sport - too small for what I wanted. If you are gonna have a big car then have a big car and not a pretend big car.
Besides, my boy loves the RR. Took him out yesterday and we had a picnic in the boot. I had a lovely lie down in the boot whilst he ate his food. Can't beat it.
Off road - a little gentle off roading, nothing serious. RR is 99% designed to munch miles on the motorway. Off-roading is more of a gimmick.
Farmer - I don't think so.
Thug - not at all.
Snob - aren't we all to a degree?
