That is a good buy, looked at one about 6 months ago (which was 12 months old then), was about 20K I think.
Market has gone crazy

you will get one for under 22k
i drove one 4 weeks ago and it was 19950 for a brand new one with leather from a main VW dealer in stirling!!! It was 27k when i looked at one 3 months ago!!!!! supposedly there were only going to be a few sold at that price (i heard one per dealer) i decided against it but is a decent car for the money. decided a year old RB320 or a 2-3 year old M3 is better value for money, going to change the wr1 spring/summer time next year. the market is completely freefalling at the monent. What you loose on the wr1 you will save on what you buy. hoping it will start to bottom out then.

Seems indeed the right moment to buy.

Any other deals around ?

I'm looking for something for Mak to drive. Was considering a Focus ST, but R32 might be nice at that price.

Before anyone suggests, I do NOT want a Renault...

Hightower, the M3 is a good upgrade BUT you will still miss the WR1's grip and fun factor.

So if you will miss the grip and fun factor... how is an M3 then an upgrade ?

How are the prices of the new STi's actually doing ?

Well, you know how much I care about shape when it comes to cars. I tend to keep shape issues to women ;)

I looked on the Subaru websites and they want a lot of money for their STi's still in demonstrators. Does this car not depreciate ?

Might indeed not look well, but the hawkeye's are still quite a lot of money compared to blob-eye and the fact it's an old car compared to the new model.

Focus isn't great to look at either, as is the Golf. But both sound glorious and should be good cars for someone looking for a nice car to run around.

Hawkeyes still a lot of money compared to blobeyes? really? dont think so... why would you buy a car which is fcuking ugly when you can have a version that looks a lot better. why should a year on a cars age make a difference? p.s thought you didnt like the lazy 2.5 anyway?

I still don't like the 2.5, but as said, it's not a car for me and the car would not be a base for modification. I'd still keep the Evo.

The STI would be an alternative to another hatch such as and ST or an R32, and only if the price is comparable.
Mak would not appreciate the difference between an Focus and a scoob anyway.

I don't see why the blob-eye was more ugly than the hawk-eye. The WR1 is a blob-eye...

She quite likes the normal, WR Blue Impreza like I had one. Personally, I think that's a fairly easy car to drive and they're not super expensive anymore. The only problem is finding an unmolested one.

Come on over and I'll change your mind about the 2.5 and "base for modification" and hardcore, and raw, and beast, and brutal :P

Didn't you have to change all the internals to increase the power properly?? And didn't that engine already once go 'bang' with not even 400bhp on tap ?
Evo running 400+ at the moment on standard internals and still going strong

But I'll happily take you up on your offer on having a go in your beast. You got antilag ?

Swede - my misses now has a GB270 and if your after a late hawkeye with low miles and plenty of warranty then its a good place to start looking. Very torquie engine but seems ok on feul, fully loaded sat-nav etc and easypessi to drive.

Only thing we're thinking of changing is the rear spoiler - but tbh that aint top of our to do list.

I like the way the smurfs new shape sti drives and the interior is superb.

Around snetterton it really showed its pace. However round donnington it was nowhere near as well balanced as the megane and struggled to keep up!! I was

What is a GB270 ? Pardon my ignorance.

The car would never go around a track, tbh. As said, in the ideal world, she'd have an RS4 or so. Comfortable transport with some fun.

Its an Impreza - the last model produced on the origional platform (so a hawkeye), I dont think ive got a photo yet tbh, and its got quite a few nice touches. Quick and easy to drive, not quite as wizzbang as the PPP models but that suits her. Gets a good write up in most mags and she is over the moon with it so far - way better than that piece of crap vxt.

It wont see a track - that's what the megane is for.
