Radio - advice neededThis is my third Impreza all with NAFF radios, I now cannot face the on button any longer,
So I have been looking around and reading forums on the subject and am more confused than ever. Going for an Alpine head unit, seems to be no disputing that choice, Was going to put FOCAL 165 Slim speakers in the front as they go in, no packing or collar required and a very good feedback from those that have them fitted. None in the back doors (just disconnect the originals) Now some say a sub and amp in boot is the way to go and some are saying you cannot here the sub in the boot no matter how you position it. Conflicting opinions say 2 normal speakers on the rear window shelf (plus the front doors) is the best way with no sub and amp. (idea being good speakers will get enough bass anyway) Anyone got any opinions or experience of speaker set up in imprezas, Its also been said that slimline speakers are not that good (by a dealer trying to sell another brand) Dont want to spend loads of money ONLY to find I could have done better. Any help gratfully accepted. Dave.
In me ole Type R, what ever speakers i put in the rear paecel shelf i just could not get any bass
Went for a Sub int he boot Rear PArcel shelf 3 ways and component speakers in the front door with high level tweeters. Sounded Fab. BEst change all the speakers, for upgraded ones, and get a amped sub in the boot, make sure the head unit has a Seperate Sub out otherwise you will need a crossover. Do it in stages Dave. First Head unit. Then change all the speakers Then get the Sub in the boot Job Done THE WR1 RR DVD http://www.scoobycity.co.uk/wr1/phpBB2/ ... highlight=
I've just fitted my Kenwood head nunit, multi changer, amp and sub.
Sounds brilliant. Waiting to get some new front speakers sorted out but for the time being it is miles better than standard. I can pop over and let you have a listen if you like.
i've got a
pioneer X1, headunit, 12 disc changer, pioneer sub in a fitted box pioneer 4ch amp (100 x 4) 2ch bridged for the sub + 2 for the standard front speakers, this sounds real good did'nt think the standard speakers were up to much, but running them through an amp makes hell of a diffrence, so in no rush to change them! Thanks for the replies,
A forester pocket has been ordered and will put a Alpine head unit in and take it from there. Jason, Thanks for that offer, may take you up on it, not keen on loosing boot space with a big amp though, can 2 smaller units be fitted into rear shelf? Dave
Don't have any stereo upgrades but glad to hear its not just me that thinks its cr@p & pig ugly. Do want to change the head unit.
If you want a sub & boot space i have seen adverts in mags for Stealth boxes that fit into one side of the boot & u hardly loose any boot space.
I ummed and arrrred about putting the sub in the boot but it fits well and doesn't take up that much space. I'll come over one night this week and let you listen and have a look at it all.
Why why why do you want to mask the engine noise?
I hardly listen to music in the WR1 as there is only one track I want to listen to and that is the flat four engine tune!! Different folks/strokes and all that!!
I'll vouch for that. Blobster Ex owner. Now in an Ariel Atom 3 300.
I'm glad you are successfully compensating for your small penis mate! And yes, Jaycee, my wife did tell me that was the case!!
Same here thats why i have'nt got round to changing it. Was the same when had buggy with Blitz Nur spec on it, had no chance of hearing it over exhaust Do miss that sound at times
