WR1oc MEMBERSHIP?

Postby danr55 » Tue Sep 11, 2007 11:48 am

Right then, a number of members have mentioned to me that it would be nice to have some sort of membership option on the WR1oc. I think a few were impressed with some of the stuff provided with the MLR membership. This would not rule people out of the current "members" section, but would compliment what we already have, and add extra value to it

If we go down this route, what would you like??? some ideas are as followsm but please post sensbile ideas in this thread

wr1oc Keyrings/pens etc
wr1oc.co.uk window stickers
Dedicated area on the site
Discounts - we would need to develop relationships with suppliers etc for this
wr1oc email address! infrastructure is now in place to do this, and you can access via any PC on the internet.

Could you please vote for if you would like membership for a small yearly fee. If you vote yes, please add some ideas onto this thread and any thoughts.

This is not a money making excerise, more another way to recoup money already spent on the site, and to push forward with lots of other ideas to develop it and make it better...
:D :D

I suppose it depends on what a small fee is!

Window Stickers would be a good idea, but decent ones (Vinyl cut) can be expensive for small runs.

Dedicated (no indexable by Google) area on the site would be nice so we can post a little more info about ourselves.

the fee really depends on what people want and what the cost etc would be. I would think a figure of £25 give or take a bit..

Dedicated area that's not indexable is certainly possible

I agree with you Dan,

I think that the suggestions you have put forward above are based on the MLR Silverstone meet and looked quiet good. Again a membership fee may be a little contentious. WR1OC have not had any form of membership fees before so getting some people to pay for something that they have had for nothing for the last few years may be harder than you think. That aside I would be happy to pay a membership fee and with any merchandise we purchase we can always try for bulk discounts.

Indeed. The plan would be however to keep everything as is for people not paying, so people would not be losing anything by not having it, merely gaining if they do ! 8)

I wholeheartedly support the concept of paid membership. As Dan says, nobody will lose out over this and only extra value for people here will be the outcome. We all have a stake in the club so the chance to recoup some costs will be sensible. I will need to have a think about membership perks but the current list looks good to start with.

I agree with Poesy.

Not decrying it in any way and i understand in some cases it needs to be done, but it's against my principles so i personally will not pay any fee to any forum.

If the site is in the sh1t financially and needs donations to pay for hosting etc. then thats a different matter.

Already i find the 'members' section of this forum all rather odd and a liitle bit clicky/elitist. Having certain privelidges for some and not for others (rather like SN has done recently) is even worse. It kinds of goes against the whole idea of a forum IMHO, particularly a small friendly one like this.

I understand i am in a minority with this view and possibly slightly blinkered but hey-ho it's just the way i feel. :D

Ahh you see, other than the fact i am good looking and have a full head of hair Poesy and myself have a lot in common.

Both of our heads are buried in our own asses as well, except i'm only ear deep.

Glad you took the comments as they were meant Dan, not been funny in any way and i accept that if there is a membership fee the only person who will loose out is myself.

Maybe i should pay the fee and get a key ring etc. then ebay them. Pooster will pay stupid money for anything WR1 related, even if he has a load of them already. :D

I'm excelling myself today, 2 pops at different people in one post , both completely off topic.

I'm well aware there'll be a lot of people that dont want to pay for different reasons. I'm keen we get the site better organised so as many people as possible can get the most from it. and if it can pay for iteself that would be good too ! :D

LMFAO at ebaying the keyring!! maybe you'll get more, as they will be even more limited edition!

If for the benefit of the site/club £25 is not here or there is it, perhaps with future advertisers they would offer 10/15% discount when quoting WR1OC, also the same via trackdays, same as sidc and mlr.
To be honest 10 members-ish or should I say it the "click" or "elitest" as Mark- put it, advertisers are not really going to gain a awful lot and there is'nt enough interest to maybe do so !

As for keyring I only have the 1, and it is a never been used and will remain in the box, a bit like Mark's head stuck up is arse

Im up for it, I got a cracking key ring from the lancer.evo.co.uk club recently excellent quality.

Id pay whatever was asked really.

Its hard for me not knowing any of the main posters personnaly, and I doubt il ever have time to make it down to any of the meets etc, and I can concur with marks comments.

I dont think any are of the forum should change though, I think it should remain free to view, but members could get

A avatar upgrade.

A new title on the forum perhaps.

And of course access to a paid up members only area, obviously that area is already in existance.

Members could also have permission to upload pics direct to the site instead of this having to host elsewhere and link nonsense.

£25 is a very small price to pay for the further development of the site/club. The MLR bits and pieces were a nice touch but we do need a decent 'buy in' to get any substantial advantages for members.

We also need something to encourage/increase the level of involvement by all members on the site.

£25 seems OK, count me in.

Got lots of good advice for free over the year or so, direct and indirect.
Its nice to know that its there to get info.

Was looking at the RB320 club and some of the merchandise they do looks good  , some WR1 stuff would be nice for scooby shows etc.

Can you send the PM's or e-mails about the WR1 posters we can get if we get 20 people ?

The Garage will be a function added to the membership. It will be an area you can upload pics and specs of your car and search other people's car. I've had a good look through it, and it looks very cool 8)
