I was, I was.

I had a 6 before my 8 and it was a great car, decided to get ride of it as it was coming up to 3 years old = no warranty. Plus I think the 6 is starting to look a bit dated now.

Personnally I think the 8 is nicer to be in/drive and is better balanced not just through the corners but also under accelleration and decelleration. For me its an easier car to drive fast and its got that all important warranty again :D

I thought about going down this route with an 8 RS before the 400 was announced - too many drawbacks for me personnally.

NO I WAS NOT. I've already said my apologies so don't muppet this thread and try to slur my name.

I AM GENUINELY interested in POESY's thought process. You may apologise if you are MAN enough Spike.

yes, why the evo route?

RS = import (insurance quotes were rediculous)
RS = no ABS
RS = no AYC
RS = no air con
RS = no electric windows
RS = no warranty
RS = difficult resale
RS = 280bhp, 450 can be achieved yes but its on standard engine internals :shock: (how long will it last) plus you have the bother of getting it done then you have a car which needs uprated clutch + brakes (plus bigger wheels to put the brakes behind as they only come with 15s) to cope with the extra ooomph.

If you can go without the luxuries (i can't) and are into modifying (i'm not) then you could no doubt get yourself a top notch motor, but as I said before just not for me.

Remember dont get hung up on horsepower figures - there's so much more to build a complete car.

Thanks for that. Interesting comments compared to Spike advertising it as bullet (bullit) proof! Always good to hear other peoples opinions compared to Spike "I can't see past my NOSE"

There's no doubt the RS makes sense for its purpose. Its sold by Mitsi primarily to rally teams and forms the basis of about 90% of the lancer rally cars you see. Its lightweight plus toughened drivetrain (RS refers to the cusco plated diffs it uses) are perfect for a rally project and the serious road/trackday individual, but for me - naah.

I personally would be worried about anywhere that will sell you a 450bhp upgrade (from under 300 bhp starting point) and then advertise it as bullit proof on standard internals! You only need look at the EVO FQ400's engine bay to see what standard internals are left in the quest for achieving 400bhp from a 2 litre ... i.e. none! Secondly to get an FQ320 to an FQ400 requires

I would definitely have my doubts too !! :shock:
