Just a question what the power steering should be like when parking.

Just got my 1 and comparing it to my wrx it seems really heavy turning as though little help from the power steering
Need arms like Popeye!
Normal speed it feels fine so is this just a characteristic of the 1? Only ever driven this one so hard to tell if something wrong? Any known problems?

only had mine a week and definitely not noticed this. But now you have mentioned it I will take more notice over the next couple of days.

Looks like you have a problem if the steering is as heavy as you say when parking, you should be able to turn the steering wheel with one or two fingers?

I would check top mount bearings and lower ball joints before condemning the steering gear / pump etc.

Come to think of it, I don't think it's like that every time but will see how it goes when I drive it more as not getting the opportunity to drive it much at the mo.
