Dilema

Postby Megaman » Tue Jan 24, 2012 10:17 am

Looking for some advice for my dilema. Today i was going to get up, let rush hour die off then drive over to Adam and drop the car off with the missus behind me to give me a lift back. However she decided to drop a bomb shell this morning by telling me she has booked me in to view a house at 11am. First shes mentioned moving house so thats a big shock to the system as she is obviously getting giddy over her dream home. Clearly she has planned this as she then produced the figures showing we can only just afford it.

Now im not saying I have lied to the missus but more a case of being uneconomical with the truth about how much the recent engine swap has cost. Which obviously puts her figures out a fair bit. Image

Normally youd own up and deal with the ear ache but the missus is 16 weeks pregnant and if youve ever had kids you know not to wind up a pregnant woman

Suggestions?

Option1: Man up. Having first looked for a good divorce solicitor.
Option2: Find some overtime or a dodgy deal on the side to make up the discrepency and cover your tracks.
Option3: Sell the car.
Option4: Turn up to the house viewing and claim there is a spooky/sinister vibe to buy yourself some time.
Option5: Spy one of the female neighbours to the new house and comment how attractive she is and how it would be nice to really get to know the new neighbours.

Take her dogging in Golden Acre Park instead. That should take her mind off things....

Oh man, you and dogging!

For someone that looks a like a respectable member of the community you have a very warped one track mind. How is that situation really going to help Mega out? At least I tried to give him some sensible suggestions.

I'd take option 5. Simple and effective.

Option 6. Turn up with enthusiasm THEN find every reason why you shouldn't buy it which buys YOU time till the next viewing ( gulp )

Can't you just move the decimal point on for your engine bill & play dumb from there on in

She might just like a link to this thread.

The only thing to do is come clean, tell the truth, deal with the colossal bollocking and move on. She'll only find out anyway, they always do...

Or, I hear there's a 'My Impreza ruined my marriage' episode of Jeremy Kyle coming up, you could always apply for that!

Hi Guys

Thanks for the advice... I went along with the viewing and proceeded to walk in each room and smile umm arrr a bit and got it over in 15mins. On the way back it was like an interrogation...
"did you like it?"
"We could make the top room your office"
"it has a bit of a garden unlike this house"
5/6 QPM (questions per minute)

I tried to be diplomatic when i got chance to speak and said have you checked that we can actually afford it yet?

Well that was it she started ranting about not wanting to lose her dream house and how ive got what i want with the car, why cant she have what she wants... then kids were brought into it with you could play in the garden with the little ones and they would have bigger rooms for when they are teenagers (yer in another 11yrs!!), it carried on until we got back home where i said we can discuss it tonight..

After this brief discussterrogation I said "so are you still ok to take collect me from buxton ?"... well the excuses started, the whining started, the guilt trips started about all the driving over the last two weekends etc.

BUT i didnt let that stop me... I said no worries I will sort it out myself... So I dropped the car off as planned to Adams who then very kindly dropped me off at the train station. I have just spent 5hrs train hopping with school kid packed trains and commuter packed trains to get home.

So now the dilema has sort of changed in a bad way as the missus is now frosty as ive not said YES to her dream home.. AND I still havent exactly mentioned the money yet.

I did however think it was wise to get the car out of the picture and safely at Adams before I mention the minor detail of the car and the lump of money i kind of syphoned a bit of..well all of it... away on car bits and boys toys..

Should have thought of the attractive neighbour one though thats a good one

A loan to cover the huge new mortgage or to replace the missing few k she has worked into her calcs?

We have two house cats that dont go outside. I said will the cats be okay in that house? She said we can always give them up

When she asked what I thought again I replied "Its alright, its a house what am i supposed to say"... can imagine how that went down ...
Was I supposed to give a detailed brief of what we just looked around?! :?

Still luckily the scoob is still safe and sound at Adams getting final tweaks before happy days :D

John Mc Tiddler (Dogging Expert) Tiddler (Dogging Expert) said he would use your house to keep pigs if he was a farmer. Don't shoot the messenger!

My standards and her standards are two different things, going to talk to her about this house tonight and see if she can see sense.

And I wonder which poor farmer he would nick the pigs from as he obviously wouldnt pay for them :)

Quality! There's a pig farm on the way over to Guiseley (Bro, you remember that road I took you down when we went for fish & chips and you didn't know whether to overtake that car and I said it would be OK.... and you nearly took off when we hit the brow of the hill at 170(ish) ) well, it's nowhere near there.....

wow you have problems!

my way out of this would be -

look your pregnant do you really want to do all of this? unsettling everything right before hand. i think lets stay here for a year.. nothing in life is guaranteed perfect - just look at what happened to the car! just lets have the baby and keep our eyes open. by then we will be in a better position as to how much we have to spend because the baby will cost a fair bit on top of fee's etc and re decorating and we can try find a even better house for us to live in happily ever after..

and there we have it i saved the day for you!

and then you work part time on thornton road to claw some of the money back!

i alreay have plans on making money back on my car 8)
