I was just wondering what age spread we have with WR1 owners. I'm guessing Gangsta must be the youngest at 21? Anybody know different? Who is the oldest?

You're only as young as you feel guys!!!

Me main droogies have a BMW 325ci and a Merc SL350 ... so yes whenever we go someone I'm always the mug who has to drive!! Funny having your mates in the car and they get so excited everytime I spot something low and fast ... for me it's just a normal day on the road but my mates get such a thrill from me racing other cars!!

Lol I do enjoy it when the police pull me up and ask to see my documents - they can scarcely believe it's my car and they always phone back to fully check me out!!

Yes but you elders can get insured on ferraris ... I've lost count of the number of insurance companies I called who said "sorry Mr Smurf you have to be 25 for us to consider you on a ferrari"

Wish I could borrow someone's thirties for a few days to get insured on a 355!!!

Well it could be that I am the senior member, by age, at 42.

Always gone for smart cars, in my 20's I was a big blue oval fan, building up to a new Escort Cossie at 34. Then a big DR10 (drink drive ban stopped all of it) followed by an expensive divorce. Was not until late 30's that I could start to afford performance cars. Went for the Scooby and now on my 4th.

Now the big question, having just returned from hols in Spain, should I sell the car to assist in the purchase of a holiday apartment. Thought on the plane home it would be easy to do. But been out in the car over the weekend, it is'nt going to be easy to do. Reservation deposit paid, final bal next June / July, so have some time to make my mind up.

At my age tou have to start to think about planning for retirement.

Holidays are funny things, you think all serious for a week in the year, different things become more important than the things that were more important while in everyday use.

Retirement

give it a week mate and all this apartment abroad will just be a silly idea while on holiday, and the WR1 is far more imprtant to you on a every day thing.

Trust me mate as im Mystic Peg ;)

Know what you mean, thanks for the advice.

Just for more info, my mother lives out there and I have recently had a promotion at work, this will give me at least 20/25 % increase in my net take home salary. So the other reason to purcahse is so I dont waste it.

Believe me at 42 coming 43 the big 'R' does start to play on your mind if only for a short time, especially when I have just seen serveral guys go at age 50/55.

The sale of the car would only assist, so for now you are right, today is more important, so I will keep it at least until next year.

Reading some recent threads, I ,like gangsta, was looking at a Noble & M3 csl, so you see all the money will go on something, so an appreciating asset would be a good idea.

Anyway thanks for the reply, Brian always welcome M8

Millie, I'm only 33 and I've already started thinking of retirement !! You're never too young to retire

My parents retired last year at 52 and 55 and have bought a caravan, go away every month or two, spend loads of time with the grandkids (my brothers) and are really enjoying themselves. My Dad got bored and started his gas / central heating business, works as and when he wants for extra pocket money and I envy them both enormously.

However, everyones circumstances are different ... I've spent most of my working life trying to get rich then found I'd hit 33 and hadn't lived if you know what I mean ... a long term relationship had failed, my business went t!ts up and I was worrying about retirement ! Hence I've stopped putting my money into 'investments', businesses or get rich quick schemes (lost a good 6 figures over the last 4 years) and I've bought a WR1 and having a holiday of a lifetime to South America (2-3 months covering Brazil, Argentina and Peru) next year. I'm self employed and have no pension whatsoever but I don't care anymore ... I need to live a little before I can think about growing 'old'.

Doubt this helps you whatsoever :? and I have no idea what your circumstances are regarding family and such, all I'll say is whatever decision you make, you've gotta believe 100% that you made the right decision !!
