Help & Advice ( Malfunction indicator lamp)

Postby SUBDJ » Sun Apr 17, 2011 4:09 pm

Hi there some advice needed please :( ,I took the 1 out for a spin last night took her up to 8 k in fifth and i think she hit the limiter there was a loss in power then has you change into sixth off to go again with no problems at all pulled back up the rev range. On returning i notice the Malfunction indicator lamp was on permanently (OBD SYSTEM).The Owners book says to take it to dealers to sort. Also check this morinng light still on.
The owner book reads

If light comes on steadly while driving or does not go out after the engine starts an emission control system malfuntion has been detected.

make sure you are running 99 V Power only dude..

the light can come on due to knock (pre-detenation) will crappy fuel and give you this warning.

have to be prepared to change gear BEFORE you put your foot down...those revs get eaten up rather quickly!

The ECU records these faults so the next time you are near your friendly mechanic pop in and ask him to check- 2 minute job.

If it comes on again make sure you drive it off boost.
