Hi chaps. I am sure this has been on here before but how do you remove the headunit? Tried for an hour or so but still none the wiser! Thanks in advance!

head unit

i found it easier to remove the can holder above the headunit first then you can pull on the surround properly. a couple of screws and its all out.

It is a doddle to do. I recently changed my head unit over- total time including removing the existing unit, making a cup of tea in the middle and wiring up the new deck and putting it back in place was 45 minutes!

yeah, as gudsy said, as soon as the drinks holder is out, the fascia pops off piece of p*ss

i just changed the standard unit for my alpine one. its an older model, but it seriously shows up the standard unit! didn't realise it would make so much difference!! fitted an autoleads open face cubby hole underneath it too, ready for apexi turbo timer to go in next week when it arrives

You have to remove this first dont you? otherwise it doesnt come out.

Cheers lads, what a helpful bunch you all are! Was a bit worried about changing the headunit and not the speakers, but its made a massive difference to the sound. Just shows how bad the sound from the original stereo really is!
