WHEEL ALIGNMENT

hi everyone ime having my wheel alignment done this week. is there any settings i need to tell them to get the correct alignment eg camber ect. if so do anybody have these please. many thanks

p.s my front tyres are wearing on the insides.

how did it drive with these settings? did you have tramlining as they stated.

yeah mate pulled loads to the left, even after it was done.

Just swapped front wheels over and its fine now :D

mine has a very slight pull 2 the left at mo hardly noticable but my tyres are wearing on the inside

that sounds like camber not right......as long as you take it to a garage with camera alignment they will sort it......I had just the laser alignment previously and never sorted it.

Should give you a printout too :D

had mine done at demon tweeks with settings from megaman,drives good ,the technician said that they couldn,t guarentee the wear as these setting s wern,t the ones on there system but they work great on mine(paid £60 odd for it,main dealer wanted ££340 plus vat :shock: !.only took about 45 mins)
it is better to have had a wr1 and lost it than never to have one at all.

The settings i paid for are different to WRX and STI settings and Subaru WR1 settings, they are specific for the WR1 from Prodrive not the local dealers who tend to use STI settings... They are designed to give the best all round setup with reduced understeer ideal for twisty B-roads. As with all low profile tyres you will get tram-lining on some roads - there is one near me that i get it on but not found any others yet...

To get the most out of laser wheel alignment you should really do this with 4 preferably new tyres if not very evenly worn tyres. Also the tyre should be balanced and tracking checked to ensure the whole geometry is setup correctly. Prodrive also said that these settings were tried and tested on their cars using Pirelli Nero tyres.

It would be interesting to find out from any engineers/physicians out there whether they think a geometry setup would change with different tyres due to the varying tread pattern...

I would go for a more agressive set up rather than the Prodrive WR1 settings, but thats my personal preference

I stuck to 0 toe all round, but with 2Degs 15Secs Front Camber and 1.5 Degs Rear, but as I drive around on the gravel roads up here then I want it a little bit looser at the rear to further help into the corners. You can go for a bit more toe out but this would be a tad extreme for road use I reckon.

When I changed to coilovers I also corner weighted the car and set the spring pre-loadings to give me 50:50 distribution front back, and left right.

Changing the tread pattern won't really change anything drastically as the overall contact patch would roughly stay the same, however trye sizes and width would. You could take advantage of an increase in contact patch if you wanted to but unless you were giving it the beans on a track then I doubt during road use there would be any differences.
