I wouldn't buy any oil from halford as they don't stock any decent brands,

Subaru use motul 5/30

You want to use a brand name like motul millers Silkolene ect

Don't use halfords shite

Motul Excess is great value for money and well suited to our cars. (5W-30)
Oilman has it in stock but not at this short notice.

Mixing oils isn't a good idea on a performance car. The oils have different specific weights and one will float on another if they aren't the same. The effect of this is that as the oil passes round the engine, you'll get a certain 'resistance' from oil A as it passes the cam/valve for example and in the next cam/valve you may get a different 'resistance' as oil B passes. This will mean uneaven wear accross the engine on any cycle.

This probably won't make any difference on older engines where tolerances are wider but on high performance engines where tolerances are tuned for maximum performance you want everything as consistent as possible and not add variables!

I would always top up with the same oil you put in for the service.

That makes it even more tricky then Jamie.

If I remember correctly what Oilman told us about mixing oils....... Firstly you can mix same grade but different make IF you're using fully synthetic oils...for example, Silkolene Pro-S with Motul X-cess.

If I was you, I would ring the last garage used and ASK them. I bet if you give them your reg number they'll look you up on the computer for all the inf on the oil used.... you could probs geta copy of the service sheet if you asked !

Just top up the oil.

Shell Helix 10/40 is probably what the garage used - lob that in to top it up and it will be fine.

3 dealers used all used Shell Super helix 5/40. Something to do with they were contracted to use it via IM motors.

I take it it's Motul 300V 5/30 they use ?

Strange thing is Opie oils recommend 5/40

5/30 is better than 5/40, The 5/40 has additive to make the oil thicker, But the 5/30 doesn't, So when the additives in the oil start to break down you get less protection than the 5/30 as it does break down,
