gear shift very stiff when engine is cold.

Postby Jimmy999 » Fri Mar 05, 2010 2:46 pm

Just wondering if anyone else finds that when shifting down gears when the engine is cold is very stiff , first gear is the worst for me.

Probably down to the gearbox oil being cold

It gets smoother when they change the gearbox oil at the relevant service but they soon go back to being stiff when the engine and oil temps are cold

This is a common complaint during dogging sessions.

Well at my 30k service I went in stiff and came out loose and floppy for a while after sex with the exhaust. id not be happy that the gearbox oil had been changed if you didnt notice some improvement. It gets stiffer to move as the oil gets old, when oil is fresh its noticeably smoother... was for me anyway..

I also agree with the above comment... i may have gone in stiff and come out loose and floppy but it certainly didnt cure my cold knob.

Neutral to first is stiff when my engine is cold...

...sorry, I can't think of a funny 'double entendre' regarding stiff gear knobs...
