Winter storage

Hi guys am going to be storing the WR1 over the winter period, i'd like to know if theres any do's or dont's?
The cars being kept in a dry locked barn under a car cover, theres no electricity in their so i cant have the battery on a trickle charge.
Any advice appreciated

Well if it was me I'd give her a good clean and stick some decent polish on her .. then i would do the same to the engine bay, also i would wd 40 over any wire conection's, greese the battry terminals ...

Also tie your cover down .. some cover can mark the paint if there loose

Then go and start her every month or 2 weeks .. you could even take the battery off and trickle charge it at home ..

or treat your self to one of thoes bubbles .. i guess there £££

I know my father in law got a boat with a power full engine And he starts it up and sprays this stuff in the intake untill it cuts out .. and it lubs all the cylinder bores.. sounds a bit much for a car ..

Pasty yours has been off the road for a while what have you done to your's .. for storage and care !!!

Leave the handbrake off aswell .You could buy solar charger and make the cables longer ie the solar panel mounted outside the barn

Polish wise the cars pretty well topped up, with me applying a speed detailer before drying after a wash then again once dry.
The covers got straps to secure either side, and its pretty wind proof where its kept.
I presume upping the tyre pressure is to stop them from going out of shape?
As for its only a car, yeah i know but am sad it doesnt see rain! and ive got nothing against giving it an airing on crisp sunny winter mornings, its the shitty rainy ones and the prospect of snow

Ours is in storage in a lock up in Bristol with no engine !
so no need to worry about a flat battery ...maybe some dust etc but it sa car and will clean up witha detailer

Mine is sitting on a trickle charger with the hand brake off and tyres up to just under 40 psi, nothing else to it than that (other than the stupid amount of protection on the paint ) really. I'd try to avoid putting it away wet

When i went on detatchment for 4 months early this year i just put mine in the garage tyres at normal psi, battery just disconnected, handbrake off and a silly amount of polish then when i got back all i did was reconnect the battery and away she went, then i just put some lovely fresh v power in her and big smiles again after driving crap in the desert for 4 months i dont think ill ever hide it away again unless i have to go away again

Cheers guys for the tips i appreciate everyones got there views on how the cars should be driven, and on one hand don't disagree, but on the other, the car is my pride and joy and gets possibly far too pampered but thats my choice, when she does go out it is driven how it should be!

Sound mate, it feels like a totally differant car, really flies now and was well worth the wait and expense, went down to RCM again last week for an oil service general check up, suspension adjustments, and had new AP brakes front and back fitted and in Ollys own words ive got a really nice balance of power, braking and suspension now. Three words ' I love it'

Just one question - what does inflating the tyres so high do to help the car in storage?

I can see the reasons behind no handbrake on and to try and keep discs rust free etc but pumping tyres up seems a bit odd unless it somehow stops the rubber compound going hard!?
