Well today I saw a white new Focus RS in halifax who was up for a bit of a thrash. After having a play with it on a bypass I can confirm that the revo knuckle system doesnt work as well as ford might think.
In todays drizzly weather from the lights it wheel spun and started crabbing sideways when under full power. Once rolling and onto the bypass the car wasnt really catching me up or dropping back all that much so they are probably quite even once the speeds are up but it looks to suffer the exact same issue as my old GGR ST300 with regards to traction at low speeds. So much for the claim of it being as good as a subaru for traction...
Glad I chose to stick with the WR1 and get rid of the ST now

Hiya,
Im pretty sure in a straight line or once at 45-50mph+ that they will be quite similar on most roads. But I was really interested to see that the revo knuckle system which ford claim defies logic and removes the need for 4wd actually still sat there and wheel spun at lower speeds. In the dry it may be completely different but in the wet weather yesterday it proved that having a powerful FWD car and using it in the wet is a waste of money and enjoyment.
As for the dawn raid it was first thing in the morning yes, did you spot me or something? Or did you meet up with an RS owner who was seriously cheesed off?
Glad I witnessed it though as my ST owners club were trying to talk me into trading in the WR1 and the ST for a new Focii RS...
Anyone else had any experiences with a new RS in the dry?

There was one with us at RAF valley last weekend. Without doubt it is a fast nimble bit of kit... but it is still a Focus.

I've been out in my dads RS a couple of times now and I do have to admit, it does have a HUGE amount of traction and its cornering ability while having the foot flat to the floor is pretty impressive for a FWD car.
Saying that - If you've got it against someone who knows how to drive an Impreza even half quickly in and out of corners it aint gonna keep up
Going round corners just got a whole lot faster...

Is this a backhanded compliment to Mega's driving ability Clark??

Oi dont start otherwise I will have to bring out the fact that you were driving round in a bodged impreza with a less powerful turbo... probably because you couldnt handle the power of the full WR1

Colour is important, it needs to coordinate with the woman's hangbag and shoes.

Maybe the difference in driver came into play too.
Always think comparing cars based on an Essex-boy race on some piece of road is total bullshit (pardon my English). For the same price you met Hirvonen in a Fiesta 1.5 diesel and he ran rounds around you. Would that mean a Fiesta diesel is faster than your scoob?

Well there doesnt need to be all the much driver skill on a bypass to point a car in a straight line and put ya foot down does there?
But I take your point and of course any well trained drivers going to show any of us normal plebs up..

The dealer told her that as yet ford GB has yet to sell an rs for the list price of 24,995.
I'm not sure what spec on the car is standard/optional, but i did notice it has AP racing 6 piston calipers on the front with rather large 2 piece discs. They must have been a few quid!!

Thats strange - I know they have uprated the brakes on the RS from the ST but they certainly arent AP's as standard on the cars ive seen. They are coloured calipers and still not even grooved discs as far as I know. GGR do an AP conversion for though so maybe its been modified already.
With regards to options from standard I think they come very well kitted as standard and have two options
Luxury pack 1 = climate control/auto lights/auto wipers/auto dim mirror/parking sensors/keyless entry/flat tyre detection system
Luxury pack 2 = all of pack 1 + dvd touchscreen sat nav system
