Jag X-Type Diesel

Does anyone know if it is normal with the x-type to have a rev limiter at 3k revs when in neutral? Anyone else driven one of these cars and noticed? Basically I blipped the throttle and was surprised that it wouldn't go above 3k revs whilst out of gear. I phoned my local Jaguar dealer who can't offer any help as to whether this is normal or not!!

If it revs over 3k when you're on the road then I would guess it's a safety feature.

I'm slightly surprised as to why anyone would want to rev a diesel above 3000 revs when not in gear ???????!!!!!!! :loony:

I'd noted at high revs that the engine was smokier than I would expect. Jag had the car in replaced a valve that recycles the exhaust gases. Basically I blipped the revs whilst stationary to see if there was a noticable difference. Hence, why someone would try to rev the engine above 3k when out of gear. :roll:

3k isn't blipping the throttle in a diesel, it's about 75% throttle! :rofl:
