Wedding and Holiday Pictures

Postby Scutch » Fri May 15, 2009 5:54 pm

Hi guys, my fiancee Gemma and I tied the knot in Ayia Napa last Friday, in the company of family and a few friends. It was a fantastic location and the weather was lovely. Saying that, the first couple of days when Gemma, Isabella and I arrived on Sunday 7th May were cloudy and slightly breezy, but by Tuesday and certainly Wednesday onward when everyone else flew over it was beautiful and it got hotter and hotter, and the temperatures were averaging 33 degrees daily, so thankfully the first couple of days were just a blip :D

We stayed at the Olympic Lagoon resort, which was great. 3 massive outdoor pools and an indoor pool, too. There was also a gym, sauna, football and tennis courts and certainly plenty to do every day and night with the entertainment team. The food and rooms were also really nice (we got upgraded to a bigger suite on arrival, too).

The beaches were scattered across the coast, Golden Sands and the famous Nissi Beach being the two main attractions, both were awesome and the sand was so hot at times. A few of us even did a bit of jet skiing which was awesome, something which we'd never tried before but was definitely worth it! 8)

The wedding ceremony was over in about 20 minutes, but everything was spot on, and like I said thankfully the weather didn't let us down. We must have got over 1500 photograph's in total, with two professional photographers taking almost 500 of the wedding, which we got on DVD, too. They were certainly of top quality, and a selection of them below along with many of our own shots on camera phones and digital camera's, too.

Can't really praise the place enough, it was close to central Ayia Napa so shopping wasn't far away, plenty of restaurants and bars to keep up to date with the football and grab a bite to eat, and everything was just so chilled out compared to the weather and stresses of good old home. It was disappointing to be leaving such a nice place, but we all really enjoyed it and the wedding was brilliant, too.

Here are some photo's from the wedding, and our time in Cyprus in general :

As I said, there are so many more photo's, and you'd be bored (even more) if I continued, so I'll just get on with the rest of the pics and conclude!

You can just make out the bruise on my arm in the above pic. That was from a punching competition with my mate Ryan in the resort bar a few nights prior, where we were almost kicked out. It was all in good spirit, a game of sorts where you punch each other in the arm until someone gives up. I think we rallied off around 30 - 40 punches while Simon kept things in order, rules wise. Neither of us could lift our arms without feeling pain the day after, and although the following pictures show my arm bruised, it got a lot worse than this and is still badly bruised even now! :(

His bruises and marks vanished under his ever impressive tan within a few days, whereas mine got worse as I bruise really easily. Bah :(

I also took loads of pictures of bugs and lizards, but can't be bothered uploading them, so finally

Nice photos mate and congratulations! Cyprus is a stunning place I went out with a girl from Nicosia for 3 years whilst I was at uni. Visited it a lot, loved it.

A lot of straight lines/edges on the beards in those photos...
