Oh yes - RESULT!

Imagine my sadness today to hear from the estate agent that someone else has put an offer in on the house she wants. Life can be so cruel sometimes.

There is some good advice hidden in this thread - always avoid "joint" accounts.

Fortunately, there is no joint account here either. But then I bloody pay everything anyhow...so no worse off I suppose.

The toys come from the business account. 'Simulator R&D'!

1. I had no idea she was even thinking of moving house

2. It was a case of want vs need with the car and I soon realised I NEEDED the car back :)

3. The kids would be far worse off if we moved house and trippled the mortgage!

:)

Oh no, just when I thought I was safe the wife today comes out with "We can use the money we would have spent moving on doing up this house" followed by "ive been pricing up a new kitchen, en suite and laundry room layout"...

What is it with women?
and more importantly how do I get out of this one?
:?

In situations like this you ask yourself 'What would Fred West do?' :D

why invest so much money into the house when you want to move again anyway?? easiest of fixes!

depreciation, builders not coming in on time, loads of mess have to move out whilst work being done, not good on the little one and unconveniant etc etc

done!

Don't do it !!!
Once you've done the work she'll still want to move house !
Been there - done that !

Get saving and look for the next dream house, hopefully it will take a while to find it and buy you time you need?

House prices not moving up so no rush to move up ladder.

Don't need cost and stress of all the work to current house with baby on the way and for no added value to property (guess).

Does your wife's proposed upgrade involve planning authority requirement which will timewise impact on new baby arrival so undesirable?

Hence, do nothing, checkout areas for moving up ladder later, keep eye on market.

When baby a few months old and all running smoothly go for move up armed with experience of larger family requirements and nursery/school locations.

With money saved from not upgrading existing do upgrades to new property which will be of long term benefit to you all.

Make sure scooby does not grenade it's engine again :)
