Drove the thing back to Finland.

Left on boxing day, 3pm.

Image

As the trains don't work in England, even few days after the snow has molten away, we were put on our first ferry of the journey.

Image

At night driving through Germany.

Image

And after a good 2000km, we finally arrived, 45 mins before the departure of the ferry in Stockholm.

Stupid thing: The Swedes grit their roads

Actually good that the roads aren't too busy as overtaking is like a game of Russian roulette.

An example:

Catching one...

Image

First look to see if we can overtake: Nope !

Image

Another try !

Image

NOPE !!!

Image

Third try !

On 28-12, we finally arrived in Oulu.

We stayed two days, swapped the tyres for some brand new rubber

And drove off to Lapland to celebrate the New year here.

Empty roads.

Except for the occasional 'child crossing the road'

Awesome road trip mate....can't believe just how often you do this back n forth. 3 days in the saddle takes it out of you for sure and you still had the energy to do my Mrs for me when you got here!

Its a heck of a trip and even in cruising mode I bet you contributed heavily to the share price of Shell. I know I did to the tune of over £800 on my way back last time.

Best conditions for any Evo or Scoob...its what they were built to do and developed on.

If you can drive fast on these roads, you can drive fast on any surface.

You are welcome back at any point buddy...and that goes for anybody else too. Although I can't guarantee you'll all get a jump.

True. But I only spend every other weekend in Oulu during the school year and during the holidays Hannu comes to us, so it doesn't really warrant investing in a bigger place.

Also, if my ex wife moves, and hence Hannu moves, I'd have to sell and get another one. Big hassle.

Thanks !

Defo need to meet again.

Fuel is actually OK. The Evo is much more economical than the scoob. My old STi would do 16mpg on such trip and 11 in normal conditions :( This one does about 28-30mpg on this run and about 16mpg when I play locally.

I really don't know what they complain about but I just went outside to get the luggage in the car and it's -36C. Cold when you're in a T-shirt :brick:

typical finns....they saw an 'outsiders' car coming and changed the prices quickly!

Do it for all Brits and Russians mainly.
