WR1oc Xmas do 2008

Postby danr55 » Tue Sep 30, 2008 2:42 pm

Posted on behalf of Mac-1:

Well Guys and Gals,

We have only three months to go before Christmas and venues/events are starting to get booked up already. Last year Frazer organised a great do which was held in Warwickshire. Details of hotel can be provided by PM to those interested.

I have stuck my head above the parapet and volunteered to organise the do this year. So this is what I propose. It seems that a lot of the earlier weekends in December are already fairly well booked up and if the venues are available, hotel rooms aren’t.

The location of most members are scattered around the UK and I will take the same idea as Frazer and focus on the Midlands as a good location to hold this years do again.

We had a lot of good comments after last years visit to the Hotel, the food was excellent, the disco was great and got better at the evening went on for some reason and the accommodation was to a high standard, so feel that we should return this year.

I have been over to see the Hotel who has also confirmed that they are completely booked up for all the weekend apart from the 19th & 20th December, I have provisionally booked 10 rooms which we will need to confirm soon.

Below are the details of the events, room rates and dinner menu costs.

I would also sagest that we have an event on the Saturday for those who live local and for those members who intend to travel on the Friday evening and stay for the two nights. This can be a Go-Kart afternoon but I am open to other events, all I would say is we need to make some decisions sooner than later.

Your comments would be welcome.

Steve

The accomodation and food was very good last year so we're looking forward to it. Should we ring and confirm with the hotel?

OK Boys & Girls,

We need to be making a decision. I will need to let the hotel know by the end of this week if we ant to confirm the rooms and the evening.

Looking at the list of people and the fact that we have had no comments back, it is unlikely that the do will go ahead, so this is the last chance to get names down.

If I haven’t received an improvement in numbers by the end of the week I will have to cancel the do and look at holding something in the New Year.

I kindly ask if you can check your diaries and confirm your intentions.

Many thanks,

Steve

Come on people - don't be boring. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the Christmas do in the past, at least me and Chris B have, but maybe we're easily pleased

Ladies & Gents,

I am sorry to say that the 2008 Christmas do has been cancelled due to lack on numbers and interest.

It is my intention to arrange a party and social do next year and will post the details soon.

Sorry to all who put there names down.

What a shame!

Was a really good do last year.

So as an alternative would the small number of people interested ie

1 Mac-1
2 Robin
3 Danr55
4 Chris & Rosy B

be interested in a small get together like the Sunday lunch meet we had earlier in the year? Could be either Lunch or Dinner.....

I would suggest Midlands to make it as accessible to as many members as possible.

Bloody hell!!! I don't believe it!!!!! I have just spent three weeks spread-eagled at the altar of marriage, praying to the gods of motorsport and Escort magazine that there just might be a teensiest possibility that I could come and join you all. Not only that, I had actually managed to persuade my 'I-don't-enjoy-motorsport/cars/Subarus/anything-with-wheels' missus to take part in the go-karting! I almost had to break out the portable de-fibrillator kit, but I couldn't reach it as I was in shock.

Now I find I'm in even bigger shock

Granted my input to the site has been shocking of late, and I do humbly apologise for the absence, but I had no idea how shambolic things had become. Dan remains steadfast in his role and does a great job. Steve (Mac-1), I tip my hat to you, mate. I had every intention of doing this, and it's my fault that numbers weren't larger. You and I know both know what it's like to organise this stuff, and full credit for your efforts.

I can't believe the shallow guest list. Stuff the cars. This is a great chance to get together and a great shame it won't happen.

Now, how am I supposed to explain to the missus she won't be go-karting after all?...

Hi Frazer,

Long time no speak, how are you and the family keeping. So you had convinced the missus to go carting then, can you have a word with Caroline. I want to spend some more money on the 1’s body work and she’s resting at the moment, something about a holiday and Christmas, Obviously your powers of persuasion are far better than mine.

I am sure you have seen Robins thread about a Sunday lunch meet in place of the Christmas do, any chance we will see you mate.

No intended pun at yourself Robin, but that quote just echo's what is wrong with WR1OC regarding meets and events. Most events seem to be around the midlands, which is'nt fair to the people from the south or north

If it aint on your doorstep we won't bother.
