john o'groats to landsend

Postby wr1.305 » Sun May 18, 2008 9:35 pm

right ive been toying with this idea for a while now, and im sure im not the first person to think of this, but a john o'groats to landsend run would be awsome!!! however im stumberling on a few things, stop off points, a charity to raise money for, and of course the fuel tanker hire to follw me!! oh and the most important one....if anyone would be intrested????

like i said its just an idea, but picture this as many wr1's as the eye can see taking over the roads from john o'groats to landsend.

give me your feed back pps.

SIDC did the LE to JOG a couple of years back for the Richard Burns foundation.

We went from LE to the prodrive factory then followed up to Birmingham, then headed home again, we took friends with us who had to get back for there kids, looking back wish we went to JOG, but to be honest can't see WR1OC doing this.

that a shame, i thought work commitments and kids would play a major factor. just an idea i really like the sound of.

Congratulations ! You have volunteered to be the next guy to try hearding cats ! You just won one free beer at the next official WR1oc event you attend and where we manage to get more than 2 moderators to attend at the same time

Good idea, btw, but I doubt you'll get much more than 1 scoob in tow on your trip.

Even on trips that proved very successfull in the past such as the Spa trackday, we're having trouble getting more than 4 cars in :(

it's a nice idea, Kev, but as you can see from the posts before this one, it's probably not going to happen. We did try arranging a Scottish Highlands Tour for this year, and that work actually started last year(!) but this has not happened due to a lack of confirmed attendees.

Other Subaru fora may be the better place to suggest this type of event as they will have a broader membership that may be interested. Good luck in your quest!

ummm, i can see this is not a keen sujestion for th wr1oc, yeh, it could be done thought the sidc or other scooby forum, but that really dosnt appeal to me, i really think it would be cool to get all or as many as possible remaining wr1's together! oh, that reminds me no 315 is F**cked for want of a better word! the kid who used to own it came to look at mine and he showed me pics of it written off!!!!! hence why i didnt sell him mine!!! glad i didnt now as its with me for the long term. getting back to what i was saying.... would be good, but just an idea. maybe a easter egg run, or christmas meet would be better, we could drive to greenland and ask santa for a rb320 or 100,000 bhp and some wings!!

Well, there are a few things to this topic:

1. You will receive generally sceptical remarks from people like myself, Fraser, etc who have been trying to organise club trips that were a tad more complex than a Sunday doodle down to the challenging track of Bruntingthorpe. As said, "hearding cats" is probably a good description.

2. There are already quite a few WR1's gone and our club has become more one of friendly fans of nice cars without the "mine is faster than yours" of many other Subaru (and Lancer) fora. So organising a drive mainly aimed at the WR1 drivers will be a even more challenging.

Why don't you start by attending one of the organised events such as the Spa trip ?
Since 2 people had to pull out, there are two free spaces.

Ferry upto £100 depending on times of the day, we were originally going to go at 8 sun morning but as we dwiddled our thumbs the p&o site went down only to double in price the next day. So me myself and I are booked in to leave at 04:00 on sunday at £25, returning at 12:00 on wed.

Petrol is where a lot of the cost will come into it, seeing as where your based possibly 5 tanks of feul there and back and whatever you use on the track, last time nealy 2 tankfuls were used so expect at least 7 fillups.

Accomodation is where "the sweede" come into the equation I emailed a link to some i'm pissed don't care where I sleep cheapo place it was 90 euros for all 3 nights, hopefully sweede has listened and booked them or something of similar price.

Then your food and most importntly belgian beire

If you've not got your watch set to cornish time and don't want to get up at crazy o'clock, myself, Dan and Fraser will be getting the 09:30 from Dover and returning on the 12:25 on the Wednesday for £70 all in

Will rendez vous with mssrs pooster and co on the other side of the channel at some point on the way once we've caught up, which shouldn't take long  8)

Spikey are you still out, even just for biere :?
