I prefer the look of the first option.

How long would the trip be ? A weekend away or something ? Cos tbh a weekends piss up in Finland appeals more than sitting listening to people telling you how to drive - doesnt look, from the itineary, like you get a lot of time behind the wheel.

Good chat last night :thumb: Thanks for your help - much appreciated!

TBH, I rekon you should budget on 1K for flights, TMRS, hotel/food + add some more for beer money. We really need the Nutty Prof to give us the timing and budget, but it looks like 5 days or so to me.

Prof? Any news?....

Who the f*ck is munkey boy ??

Bad news: :(

TMRS want about 1000 quid a person for these courses. Compared to 200 quid for the "Day at full speed" which turns out to be passenger only :noway:

Alternative:

As mentioned earlier, my neighbour is an ex local rally champ.

I could organise a course with Harry.

- We'd rent a piece of forest (generally 25 GBP for 10 square miles for a day) or a lake
- We rent one or more cars. To keep cost down, I'd say we rent a few Manta's or RWD escorts, which are easy to find and cheap.
- For FWD fun, we can just use the Avis renters which we'll need anyway to ferry people around.
- I'll check if we can find a cheap 4WD, but wouldn't hold high hopes. Anyway, for good fun, you don't absolutely need 4WD. To learn how to control a car at 80mph on ice neither. A Manta on proper studded rally-tyres will probably go faster than an Evo on normal roadgoing studs.

Since Harry's brother also drives rally and his uncle organises one of the big national rallies in Finland. Finding a car and a 'stage' should be perfectly feasible.

- For accomodation, we could rent a few cottages here in the North. They're pretty cheap and of very good quality (in Feb you're looking at 40-50 gbp per person for a week at most for a cottage that has log fire, sauna, dishwasher, etc.).
Example: 554 Euros per week if we go between week 2 and 7. Sleeps 8 max. This the most expensive ski resort in Finland even !
http://www.yllas-travel-service.fi/en/i ... ki&arvo=25

- Knowing Harry, he won't charge for the organisation and teaching. He'll just be in for fun. I thought we could hire him to do the catering though. We'll get good food and he'll get something as reward for helping us to organise this.

What are you thoughts ?

If the people on our list are still interested (I think 2-3 couples will do as minimum), I will talk to Harry and start looking for cars and forest/lake.

Cheers,
The Swede

Rented these last year. Two of the nicest they had. We were 12 and I paid something like 1200GBP for both together for the week, all included.

Hope this option will also appeal more to Poesy. More time for enjoying local culture : ski, sauna, roll in the snow, back in the sauna, beer, food, more beer (and girls if we do beer outside) and... (normally) lots of time behind the wheel.

- You wanna go skiing ? Sorry, that means driving a stage similar to Rally of Sweden.
- You wanna go to the local supermarket ? Sorry, that's another stage like Rally of Sweden.
- Wanna pick up a pizza or go to the pub ? Another stage like Rally of Sweden.

OK, we have enough people already for me to start the ball rolling.

I will talk to Harry this weekend.

More people ? Bro ? Marky Mark ? Poesy ? Woza ? Pops ?
