It may be a bit early to start talking about it, but how about the next RR day taking place at Powerstation.

Chris B suggested it as well. :)

powerstation is one of the places to go too if you like err....big figures!

Well I thought them accurate as they have that cooling duct that connects directly to the top of the intercooler. Most places suffer from too much heat.

Accurate is a bit mis informing when you are comparing dynos as they are all over the place.

All im saying is powerstations is one of the ones that gives very high readings, nothing wrong in that of course!

Very true. Perhaps accurate was the wrong word to use. :)

Lets just say that using Powerstations setup, that most standard WR1's should produce the power in says on the tin.

You have to admit there were some obscene figures!!!!

heres a good one for you then.

P1 belonging to DaveP off here at G-force motorsport. Car has a VF34 and dave quite reasonably expected 330 ish. All the standard P1's on the day were giving around 270 so close enough.

.
1 week later at powerstation, with no changes whatsoever!

305 to 347 in 1 week. Wow. Dyno testing and RR's is a bit of a joke. in shootout mode only useful for comparing car to car on the day. long since got rid of them at work and we now only use engine out dynos in proper temp/climate/press controlled cells. Rolling roads (even the same one used day to day) simply were not good enough.

Oh - well gangsta and I usually enjoy the Southend weekender that we're trying to organise for July, so hopefully everyone coming will also.

That would be my graph.
The wheel figures are pretty close but it's down to how the dyno has calculated the flywheel figure. I can't believe how two figures can be soooo far apart.

who gives a flying fcuk about rolling roads!!!

Can't see the point personally of standing around watching some nerd sitting in your drivers seat with a laptop - whilst you car gets nowhere near the airflow it needs, or what you would get from regular driving. All to prove who has the biggest numbers.

Much better taking all the cars to a track day and letting them loose and then deciding which one is best.

Also every single rolling road produces different figures so what is the bloody point??

Could it be just as a meet, rather than any specific reason.

Exactly JD. :)

I don't even own a WR1, but have made several friends from going to RR4. I would have liked to have gone to the last one, but it was too far for me.

I prefer the way Powerstation presents the data in general...although I'm a little disappointed they don't keep things standard.

i.e. Where Power and Torque are displayed:

BHP should be presented 'against' ft/lb.
kW should be presented 'against' Nm.

When viewing engine performance curves derived from a rolling road, it is more important to study the 'shape' of the plots than the 'absolute' values conveyed.

...and remember if the Power (BHP) and Torque (ft/lb) curves don't cross at 5252 RPM, then the graph can be completely disregarded!

Power (bhp) = Torque (ft/lb) * RPM / 5252

If its a meet everyone wants - dont forget the Southend weekender at the start of July  Its going to be booze, birds and cars all the way :D (see the way I got that free plug in there - good huh).

All that standing around at a rr day does get a bit boring for me too - and generally i can tell whether or not my car is on song just by driving it. Although seeing some good figures is always quite satisfying for the people whos cars are involved and if theyve put in the wrench time then I can understand they'd like to see the fruits of their labour.

If it's a 'Meet' not just an RR day, then I'd suggest we ask if they could offer other services......such as Laser Geometry Checks / Setups on one of their Scissor Lifts!

When do people want to go?
I can make enquiries at Powerstation to see how they are for Saturdays.
