This is the up to date list. I've registered everyone so the static ones can go on the track if they change their minds. As we have the track all day with just a break midday, there should be plenty of time for everyone to have a few goes. It should be four cars per gate on the track at any one time, so we'll have to work it so that everyone gets a fair amount of track time.

:toofunny:

Looking forward to this! i wont be playing with anyone out there on the track. The place is terrible for stones etc damaging your paintwok if you are anywhere near a car in front. i was there on Monday and its just as bad as its always been.

Can you just put a boxing ring up for smudge, pratsy and :blahblah:

you get fcuk all stone chips if when you get onto the straight you get straight over onto the left or sit on the opposite side of where all the cars are. Last year I got one stone chip on my window and that was it.

Shame you are not coming on track. was looking forward to see what your car can do.

No i will be on track for sure, just making sure i will not be in the immediate vicinity of any other cars (or rather behind them).

The problem is everyone else goes to the left as well! and if someone overtakes you then you get peppered.

Got a load of chips on monday just doing a photo shoot

Its immaterial anyway. I have a back street garage modified 400 BHP + P1 (my garage that is) that was done with Halfords money so surely it wont last more than a handful of laps?

In the past i have taped cars and bikes up round there, but then it looks stupid.

Im prepared, but that does not mean i want to court damage. Its my only car thank you and i have already had the splitter painted twice.

Having raced at every proper circuit in the country and a lot of them around Europe Bruntingthorpe is by far the worst for stone chip damage. cos its a hell hole of an airfield circuit.

When i used to run my bikes in around there i ended up putting hand guards on because i cracked a knuckle once from a stone thrown up.

Maybe i dont have more money than common sense

I have both mate ... that's why I choose a subaru as my track car because I don't care what happens to that as the cost is insignificant compared to the car that I am looking at buying as my toy.

Some people have bigger sense thresholds than others :D

admittedly I would not like to track a bike around that circuit!!!

I dont like the straight at bruntingthorpe at all - terrible surface. If I remeber the rest aint too bad though ?

Got 2 nasty stonechips on the windscreen already and the front bumper could do with a respray - so after Brunters think I may book it in for both and not worry on the day.

Quick question - whats the best way to protect your lights - dont fancy shelling out for a set of xenons, I hear they are quite expensive and so far they seem undamaged (touch wood).

Whats wrong with a couple of stone chip.
I have a wife who drive the car though out the weekand it looks
like she's on a permanent track day.
3 out of 4 wheels are scuffed.
Front bumper has a scrape too :?
But thats life
The WR1oc still rocks...
Even if i do drive a Smart car!...

Yes Poesy rest of circuit is ok, its just the straight thats like a bagdad street. :?

Just duct tape your headlights up. a stone will still smash them though. only sure way is to get some headlamp covers like i have.

Gazman, your attitude is to be admired but i have a bit more pride in my car than that and maybe not as much money as you.
it does the shows on suppliers stands, and its used on track, and its my daily driver and TBH i dont want it any other way.

I have used it at Mallory, Brands and Oulton so its hardly mollycolled but you can run close behind someone at these circuits and not get peppered, you cant do that on the straight at Brunters.

whoever is on track and no matter what the surface stones decide to do the main aim is that we give the people who are paying a good lap for their money. Last year I just coasted down the back straight and spent more time giving it some serious sideways beans around the corners ... which seemed to do the trick for the Subaru queue.

It's all about charity at the end of the day so who cares about what happens to the cars. :D

all I know is that the more I went out the more money got raised for the kiddies charity ... when you think about how lucky you are to even have a performance car worth circa

Think people need to remember that this isn't a track day but a charity day. You have to take people out in your car for every lap that you are out there and that is the reason we are being allowed on for nothing. Sometimes you have to take 4 people in at once and they expect a good show.

The organisers actively discourage you to just hammer it up the staight and like to highlight that in 5 years of the event there has not been once accident through silly billy driving.

True smurf - you have to put it into perspective - its only a car. I bet some people wish all they had to worry about was a couple of stonechips !!!

Still I can understand why people want to look after their cars as well. At the end of the day its all about having fun and going home with yourself and your car in one piece. Well thats my aim anyway. Oh, and a lap in a Dodge Viper :D

I care about my car as well Bob. I would not be doing a track day at Bruntingthorpe for any other reason than for charity. was oly there the other day for a mag shoot and pottered around. Hence my initial post in that i wont be having 'fun' with anyone. I will give it the berries up the back stretch when there is no one in front of me but as for the back straight i will be at 100mph max over near the grass at the RH side of the track.

Do it - it will be fun giving needy kids a big smile on the face. lets face it the straight is no fun anyway and i will still be going for it as we go up from the bottom corners.

Its all very well giving it the big yabba yabba like Poesy and Gangsta when money seems to be no object but normal well adjusted people like you and me are not like that

We will have a wobble round rogether fella

Glad you can make it after all Mick and Lorraine.
Last year Chris B went the whole day without getting any stone chips, and then managed to pick up a massive one at the end of the day. Just how it goes I think. Striking the balance between giving people a ride to remember and keeping out of everyones way, is always going to be difficult. Judging from the posts after last years event, I think everyone enjoyed the day, despite some stone chips and the odd shredded tyre. And just think of the lovely warm glow you'll all get from doing your bit for charity

If we discount the handful of non WR1oc members, this could turn out to be the largest turnout of members to any of the events so far. :woohoo:
