Track Day - Bedford - July

Postby POESY » Thu Jun 25, 2009 11:57 am

Our next trackday is shaping up to be bedford autodrome, GT circuit, on Monday 27th July. Its a bit off at the moment I know but its holiday season and getting diaries to match has been tricky.

Its open pitlane format, £139 + £25 for additional drivers.

If anyone is interested then it'd be great to hear from you. We usually get a small discount if we book more than 5 cars, we have 3 already.

Absolutely, the more the merrier.

We are going to book next week, wednesday, so let me know if your all up for it and we'll try and negotiate a little discount.

Where would you be travelling from?

That is indeed not a bad trip.

We head up the M1 from Watford, so best meet there.

Spoke to the organisers on friday and they confirmed we'd get a small discount for 6 cars, so if your all up for it then drop me a pm with car/driver details and ill get the ball rolling.

All has to be paid upfront generally, whether thats passengers or additional drivers.

Bedford are very strict for noise - check their site but i think its around 100db static at 2/3 revs and 87.5db driveby - probably the lowest and strictest levels in the uk. Bedford tends to attract standard cars for this reason, rather than modified ones.

They dont give you any chances either - 1 strike and your off - so if you need to quieten the car do it before you get there.

A stock wr1 will pass both, if youve got a louder exhaust though youll need a good bung. Stock 997s were right on the limit last time and the organisers were suggesting they dont follow too close!!

I usually book it through Huss at Performance Parts Online, his company get us the discount with trackdays.co.uk. He's 100% reliable, a fair few of the wr1oc members have met him at various events, and coming on the day anyway. Ive already dropped the cash of to him as he lives close by, Hatfield.

Ill check with him over the weekend, see what discount we'll get for 7/8 cars and how he wants payment.

Ill PM the deffos on monday - will need car regs and driver/pasenger names.

Here's the page folks.

http://www.trackdays.co.uk/calendar/cars/

Its bedford autodrome, GT circuit on Monday 27th July.

Only offered 5% discount for over 5 cars, which wasnt really worth the hassle tbh. We had a BIG moan!!

Anyway we've all booked, so hopefully see you there.

TBH ive never bothered for the car - if you read the small print it really is a false economy. Excesses tend to be £1,500 to £2,000, claims are often limited to around £10k.

Remember its a fun day NOT a race day and you'll be ok.

Always have personnal insurance for me and the misses though. I think she sorts it out through Standard Life.
