What I want to know is why you weren't at the Ford event at Silverstone. We passed millions of Fords, including at least 15 new RS. You would have been in heaven

Don't worry I gave them lots of hassle on your behalf with the missus and little one asleep on the way home :D

Ha ha, it was a great day for upsetting the Fords on the way home. You and me both mate.

Yes this weekend was Ford Fair which i missed. I sold my tickets that id pre-booked last week as i realised the two events clashed. First ford fair ive missed for 4yrs or so now... but its the same old show every year.

Going around silverstone in the ST is scarey at ford fair too as you get thrown on with all sorts of other cars, some driven by teenagers like they were stolen... normally old XR2i's worth 500 quid... when they start drifting towards you clearly out of control because theyve overcooked it, its not much fun as they obviously dont give a monkeys about your pride n joy worth 20k...

I gave a sierra cossie a run for its money on the way home but ended up letting the missus drive back from tibshelf as i picked up an eye infection somehow which started restricting my vision... have sent the missus to get some eyedrops today :)

At least I got 1 passenger in before she went bang

you have to laugh about my mishap sunday.....it ain't worth crying over, end of the day it's a piece of metal, the fact WR1OC raised iirc £900 should be praised, well done to all the drivers

respect ! 8)

Defo will be there next year. Our car performed faultlessly, all thanks to Marky Mark and Adam @ Autotecnica. I couldn't wish for two better people to be let loose on Kylie.

We have another charity track event booked in September which I'm very much looking forward to.

My confidence grew from strength to strength with each lap. The buzz from the smiles when giving passenger laps was great. Handline wise I'm 100% happy with our car, couldn't fault it one bit.

It is in Anglesey at an RAF base on the 20 Sept and only costs £50. It is currently advertised on SMACS. If anyone wants to know more than please let me know and I'll check with the SMACS crew who it is open to and post the registration details.

Just a quick post to say a big thank you to chris b and rosy for organising a fantastic well run event.
i wish my car could of done a few more laps but with it over boosting and blowing the intercooler pipes off twice i was getting bored of fixing it, after all it was my day off

Just googled this Bro...

Boost pressure is the natural friend of car enthusiasts who like to drive fast - but, believe us, the 'more is better' philosophy is not always best. In this story we won't be showing how to force more induction air through your engine; in fact, we'll be doing the exact opposite!

Like many late-model turbocars with factory electronic boost control, the AutoSpeed MY94 Subaru WRX has realised an unintentional (and uncontrolled!) increase in mid-range boost after the fitment of its high-flow intake and exhaust. This boost overshoot occurs immediately after the spool-up period and, given its relatively narrow rpm band, we're inclined to categorise it as a boost spike. Whatever you want to call it, though, it's not something we set out to achieve...

Similar to many turbocars of its era, the '94 WRX factory boost control system incorporates a hose connecting the turbo compressor outlet to the internal wastegate actuator; this hose is fitted with an inline airflow restriction (as seen here) as well as a 3-port wastegate solenoid. In the WRX's case, the top solenoid port is the air inlet (which accepts pressure from the turbo compressor), the middle port is the outlet (which sends a portion of pressure to the wastegate actuator) and the lowest port is the vent (which sends bled pressure back to the pre-turbo intake system).

The factory ECU pulses the boost control solenoid to bleed a given amount of pressure from the wastage hose; although specific details of the ECU operation are scarce, we're told the boost control circuitry onboard the MY94 computer is pretty 'old school'. This lack of sophistication makes sense considering the wild boost spikes we have been seeing...

not sure yet but i think it was getting too much air through the new intakes i put in since it was mapped, it was detinating really bad over the 5.5k rev mark so couldn't give it full power down the straight which i was gutted about :( .
i've already tried to get hold of the mapper to see what's the cause but as it was deting on both maps (bung in and out) i think its the added air flow. as soon as i know i'll lety you know bro.
just read this morning on 22b.com there will be det control available soon for my simtek which will hopefully be a engine saver.

New intakes - do you mean the holes in your headlights?

you mean the morrettes with spun alloy intakes in the main beam lamp hole?
as seen on most high powered cars, but you wouldn't know about that would ya stu?

FFS, are the "florrettes with spunk alloy intakes in the main beam lamp hole" what you are referring to as "new intakes"?

I'm asking since we have discussed inproving airflow to my airfilter and wanted to be clear as to this being a possible issue with respect to the current map.

i think you will be ok with the bumper duct stu, where as with my car having next no ducting and then having a gaping 3" hole infront of it would effect the airflow greatly but i think there is something else wrong with set up as i did blank the hole off for 2 laps and it didn't help detenation issues
when we fit a duct to your car we can check the air flow values on the select monitor to make sure its ok.

Could it be because it was mapped on the rollers ?
You would need a flippin' huge fan to replicate the airflow you would be getting doing 160 mph down the straight at Brunters !

map one was on the rollers but map 2 was live and it had the same effect on both, i could only do 145mph as the det light went ballistic over 5.5k revs in 6th. i was hoping for a 175mph (on the clock) run

Looking forward to you fitting the duct. Need to get some pictures of your recent work. Hopefully I've got a could of bit arriving for you to fit. Should be here with me on Thurs. How are you fixed for a late on on Tuesday?

Let me know when you are ready to receive my mom's car too.

I just got an email from the organisers of On Your Marks and I've copied it below for you all to read. I think you should all pat yourselves on the back for your fantastic contribution to yet another successful event. We raised a record amount of £900 from our club and the total for the event has exceeded the amounts from previous years, so well done and a massive thankyou to you all. Now I can't wait for next year.

ON YOUR MARKS TRUST
CHARITY EVENT DAY ORGANISERS

Sponsored by ASDA

On behalf of the ‘On Your Marks’ team, we sincerely wish to thank you for all your fantastic support and help you have given us to help make this year’s Charity event day such a great success.

The God’s certainly shone on us this year by giving us a rain free day and the turnout by everyone certainly confirmed this.

We are very proud to announce the record amount of money raised for this year’s event held on
Sunday 2nd August 2009 is an outstanding
£ 30,750.

This money will be split between the 3 nominated charities, Wishes For Kids, CLIC Sargent and Sparks
With each charity receiving £10,250 each.

In an environment of the present climate, where the world appears to be falling apart, Events like this remind us of the importance of community. We all have something to offer & it proves that Charity is at the heart of us all if we just dig deep enough. Everyone who donated & aided to make the ‘On Your Marks’ day possible deserves no less than the highest commendation. The positive energy displayed on the day gives us all the strength to carry on for what is right & good.

As you probably know, we like to invite the families of the charities and get them to enjoy our day along with us. To see the faces of the Children and their families on the day as they take their pick of the cars they want to go in at the wish gate encourages us to keep this event going and make as much money possible for these worthy causes.

If there is anything you need to know about the day, or we can help you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact John and myself.
