Bruntingthorpe Charity Track Day

Postby Chris B » Sun Apr 05, 2009 5:55 pm

Taking place on August 2nd,we are waiting on all the info but it looks to be better than ever.
This year we would like to keep it just for the WR1OC and only invite other drivers if we are short so put your names on the list if you want to go around the track so we can see who wants to scare the public and raise some cash for charity,if you do not want to go on the track you and any family and friends are more than welcome.
Subaru UK are going to be there aswell and I have asked Matt and Olly to bring the Gobstopper along so you can all check it over

Drivers....1
Heaven can wait....I'm playing with my scooby.

Yes get him to join the club, you must have a subaru and if you want to go on the track put your name down on the list,as I said if we have enough drivers we can keep it to just our club.

On-Your-Marks have got the same deal as last year at the Barcelo Hinckley Island - bed and breakfast and use of all the facilities for two people £55. Quote OYM55 when booking.
http://www.barcelo-hotels.co.uk/hotels/ ... and-hotel/

This year there will be more stringent checks on noise levels and I have been asked to tell you all that you will not be allowed on track if your car exceeds whatever level they decide on the day, so be prepared for that. What the owner of the track actually said was "no illegal exhausts" and I pointed out that in fact they are not illegal - they just happen to be that loud. The locals object every year and try to get the event shut down but once again we got a reprieve. One thing that we can do to try not to antagonise the natives is to avoid driving through the village on the way there and back. Either a different meeting point or route will be arranged so we'll let you know when that's been sorted. I didn't think we went through the village but apparently one of the locals counted 50+ Subarus last year. They may have been from the other club that met up with us at Bruntingthorpe so anyway we'll try not to let this happen this year.

The event website is www.on-your-marks.com but it doesn't appear to have been updated yet so shows last years date. Subaru UK will be one of the major sponsers this year and will be running cars from their own gate and I think Prodrive may be present too as will be Total Kit Car magazine and the London Tunnelers.

If you can get £50 of sponsership you can have a free 180 ft bungee jump with a photo of your smiling face  to prove you did it. Also if you've got a spare £100 you can have a helicopter flying lesson. The airshow this year looks to be even better than before and then there's the usual food, fairground, George fashion show, Clarins makeup, music, bike and car stunt shows and so on. Looks like it's going to be even better this year.

We will be reducing the total number of cars on our gate and having a rethink about how we organise drivers, so as to avoid the unfairness that we had last year. We will have to be more strict about getting people on and off the track so everyone has the same amount of track time. Get your names down on the list so we know who will be driving (noise levels aside) and then we can work out a rota or whatever method we decide on. Any suggestions will be welcomed as will any volunteers to set up the gate, organise the passengers, take money on the gate etc.
