Spa/Ring Trip 2009

Postby danr55 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 10:55 am

Guys

Dates have been released as follows Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th July 2009 for the Spa Trackday

Due to the fact the pound is shocking against the Euro, bookatrack are charging £695 for the two day event. I'm not sure if they will let us split this as we did before and pair up and take a day each. We could go over at the weekend to the Ring, and then do Spa before heading back, all other details in terms of where would stay are open to discussion.

So, what I need to know is, who is interested in:

Spa + Ring - dont care on the cost, will do 2 days at Spa ?

Spa + Ring if we can pair up and do 1 day at Spa ?

Forget Spa, it's expensive, let's just do a couple of days at the Ring, then we can go whenever we want?

1. Dan

I'm not interested this year, but thanks

Hiya,

I would like to do a trip like this but havent done anything like it before. I would need a good idea of budget for doing the whole event before i can commit to anything. Also how long I would need to take off work...

Cheers

Forget Spa it's just too damned expensive - have more time at the ring or head down and do tourist evening at Hockenheim - awesome fun but scarey as hell :D

You are looking at (very approx)
£60 for ferry
£100 (possibly a bit more) for accomodation
£300 (possibly a bit more depending on amount of track time) fuel
Spa cost is above
Ring is around £50 for 4 laps from memory, if we were doing a couple of days there budget for £100-£200
+ food and beer money
so I would say around £1000 give or take a bit. I would say that a 4-5 day trip would be about right, so look at doing this over a weekend, so 2-3 days off work

Defo ring trip only for me.........that place is awesome, Spa isn't worth it for me, although it is a fantastic circuit, the ring is in a different league!

A 4 day trip centred around the ring over a long weekend would be ideal for me, in late Summer.

Had forgotten about Le Mans, it's 13th, 14th June, so if we can do a ring trip in mid September I'd be up for both!

Dates are sparse though - look for Touristenfahren on the events page linked from there.

Takes about 1.5 hours to drive south there from the ring.

Sounds good, from memory Hockenheim has a lot of long straights connected by chicanes and tighter corners, could be interesting 8) 8)

No dates for Hockenheim yet, not available till March.

So what about a trip to the Ring end of July/beginning of August.

Names please!

As you know, I am always interested when there is a trip to Belgium.

For cost and flexibility, let me check with some friends in Belgium because I might be able to get us a trackday at Zolder or Croix-en-Ternois (northern France) which could be combined with the Ring if necessary.

Zolder has many free sessions during the year.

(PS: Zolder and Ring is not for the supersticious: Lauda lost his ears at the Ring, Villeneuve his life in Zolder)
