Hi boys!

I'm back in Ghent. I'd love to bring a car, but I simply don't have the money to do that (yet!). I might rent a caterham together with a collegue of mine - no decisions made yet.

But I'll definitely meet you in Spa again!

Jochen

Hey Jochen good thinking

what if were all to chip in for a caterham for the day? would we be allowed 10 drivers in it so we can all have a go and probably not pay too much ? thougths ? separate thread...

update:

Spoke to BaT (the people who organise the Spa trackday), they have been provisionally offered 20/21/22 Aug, (TBC within the next week hopefully)

The theory is we base our trip around this date, so we'd be there for a couple of days to include the spa day on one of the above dates.

Will update you again once i have confirmation etc...Not sure what days you have provisionally booked off pops, may need to adjust these slightly once we've got confirmation ?

Good stuff! Thanks, Dan. I'm surprised the provisional calendar is so early, but it's quite normal for some initial posturing between competing formulae round now. Spa is just protecting its own interests. Let us know what happens :thumb:

OK, we're 90% on the 20th and 21st August as being our Spa trackday.

I'll suggest we do less running around than last time and this time we perhaps base ourselves at Spa/somewhere localish to Spa for at least 2 nights, and then do 1 or 2nights maybe somewhere else...?(den drippel?  )

As the 20th is a Monday what are peoples thoughts? we could do something like go out on Friday, get to the hotel, go out, get smashed, Saturday go to the ring, back to the hotel, go out, get smashed, sunday chill, go out, get smashed, Spa trackday Monday then return Tues (some people may want to add another day or 2 to the agenda)

Sounds fine to me, matey, but we could box clever on this one too, me thinks, given the dates, and keep everyone occupied and relaxed.

DAY 1 - EARLY start on cross-channel (means being close enough to the ferry early morning. Piss-up on UK soil the night before?) then the run down to Leuven for an overnight halt as a good resting point.

DAY 2 - Leisurely drive to Spa (perhaps taking in the infamous tunnels in Brussels on the way) and overnight in Spa.

DAY 3- Down to Nurburgring and back in a day (which should be very do-able if we're there on a Sunday. Alternatively we re-jig to accommodate time after Spa). Still overnighting in Spa that evening.

DAY 4 - Spa! Return to same hotel or those more keen can make the late ferry home

DAY 5 - Depart for Blighty (or stay on for those wishing a longer stay)

No single day should get us back to a hotel base too late, and all hotel time is in Spa save for one night in Leuven (and possibly one night's stay near Dover). Also, there are only two early starts, one from the UK, and one to get to Spa circuit.

This means leaving either Friday or Saturday (depending on final calendar slots for Spa) and returning Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest, thus reducing the amount of hols peeps need to book.

... of course we'll all still need at least another week to recover after that anyway, but that's our own problems.

What do you think?
