ROFL - i normally go to ford fair every year and show the car but this year bruntingthorp falls on the same day so ive pulled out of ford fair. said i would do this run to make up for it... with regards to turnouts there will be around 30 cars going from devils bridge to the lake district. sadly there will probably be about 5-6 nutters that will drive like lunatics but thats always part of the course....

I like the Mustang and the GT40.

Focus - great little family car. But that is it. Nothing more and nothing less.

so who the chuff understands that Revo knuckle crap...is it just a fancy Mac strut..

i.e. you are still gonna get shed loads of torque steer? Or does it actually work?

shame its not 4wd though..missed a trick there I reckon.

That "revo knuckle" stuff is what they are raving about to try and convince people that it is as quick as the others out there. Remember they are comparing it to the new scooby sti that is very tame compared to a wr1.

I will give them credit though if they have made it more driveable than a seriously moded focus ST. The Focus ST's running at 350bhp with coil overs / "power grip suspension" (new wishbones) / Quaiffe LSD / Organic Clutch are very rapid on the track. However if you buy a standard focus ST it is more of a hot hatch designed for comfy journeys on the road and not much more sporty than other things out there.

The new RS will need to be a lot stiffer all round with a lot less body roll. They also will need a fancy differential to put the power down and a stronger drive shaft.

The modification market for the focus ST is huge, theres 4/5 major players all doing their ST300 conversions. When it comes to the new focus RS a lot of these tuning houses have put a downer on things and have said that they wont be spending a lot on R&D given its a limited edition run of cars.

Email I received yesterday from Graham Goode Racing says it all:

The biggest problem for us with the RS is that compared to the ST it will be sold in significantly lower numbers. This will have a severely detrimental effect on our development costs of any parts as the sales of such things will also be significantly lower than those for the ST. (Plus, I personally think that the RS will attract different types of buyers, some of these will be more than happy to polish the car to within an inch if its life, but would never consider modifying it away from the manufacturers original specification!).

Its funny to the focus guys i am seen as the enemy for getting a WR1... to you guys ya mostly all hate Fords or the traditional stereotypical Ford Owner

well, there is a longer history in the RS badge than any Sti badge...but unfortunately in recent years they haven't fully exploited it...

Now the penny men are in control I doubt it will ever be the same again...after all it is the Volvo lump in there...but still no Quattro S2 5 pot though!

It would have to be something VERY special to tempt me to the blue oval...maybe a certain Mr Wilson can sort me out with a 2nd hand WRC car...preferably not been stuffed by JML.

Should have come Bro.... was a good evening as Martin said it went quick! decent food too!!

Andy only got his WR1 yesterday afternoon from Warwick, drove it up to drop his mate off and come for a pint and then drove back at 4am this morning to Warwick to get it serviced and have some tuning etc on it!! It only had 1500miles on the clock, I think he'll have doubled that by tonight as he is back up in Leeds!!
