How many Scoobs have you owned before the WR1 ?

Postby Brian » Wed Sep 08, 2004 7:50 am

My first ride was a 95 WRX import.

Bought it in late 2001 just before Christmas.

I hadnt even considerd a scooby as i was in love with a Mitsi, i just cant remember the model :( its those large 2 door, with about 3 litres twin turbos jobbies,

LOL cant even remeber the model, anyway they looked great.
So took one for a drive.

It wasnt the Turbo model so needless to say it was unimpressive :(

Salesman at the time was Richard, He walked to towards the Silver 4 doors family saloon and said " What about one of these"

I replied... mmmm its a 4 door family saloon...

He took me out in it :) It was my first experience of a Scoob. I was blown away.
He lent me the car for a few hours, but it needed only the fist 2 mins of driving it i was hooked.
Sale complete.

THen i joined Scoobycity and Scoobynet and learnt all about the Scoobs. With a eye on the Type R, it was the one i wanted.

I sold the WRX and travelled down to London to veiw a few TYPE Rs, some were really rough, but one i fell in love with was the Cool Grey.

The Group N gearbox and the so Low gearing made it so quick round the city.
Sale complete.

after a year or so, i decided it was time to experience the UK MODEL ;)

down went the 1K deposit and a very long wait, Part Ex. the Type R on the WR1, and its been Class action sisnce then :)

Bought a three month old UK Turbo in 1998 that I traded in this June for the WR1. In all the time I had the classic never had one single problem with the car. Was well impressed but it pales compared to the WR1. Loving this car :D

Having been a blue oval fan for years owing serveral Escort Turbos including a cossie, plus Seirra Cossie I went onto to BMW's.

First Scoob was purchased in 1999, Terzo, gut had spent some money on it as it had leda suspension, full scoobysport exhaust, 17" wheels and I think a type R wing. Sold this as job dictated at the time so had standard car.

Then purcahsed a bug eye, 10 months old, previous owner had spent 30k( including cost of car) on it, Mica Red, light conversion , 18" wheels, lowered, decat exhaust, I put induction kit on it, looked really nice car.

Keep the above until May 2003, then purchased ex demo STI PPP, put 18" OZ alloys and centre pod dials plus Subaru mud flaps. However I decided that I wanted a 22B, had a llok at some good examples and was tempted, then I heard at the WR1 got as much info as I could on it. Tom Butlet from Subaru Insured sent me the autocar show pics he took and I was hooked.

Had some mods as posted previously and now have S600BYS plate on it.

Some great cars in the pics, between us we must have spent some money!! Your only on this earth once.

I had a WRX, which i bought new in 2002

I was going to keep that one for another year BUT...

We went to the dealers to test drive the Forester XT for my good lady and just as we were about to leave to decide which colour to go for the sales manager told me that they had just PPP'd their demo STi and asked me if i wanted to go back a week later (once it had some miles on it) and take it for a spin.

So a week later we took it out and loved it but i wasn't too sure about it as the WR1 was out, although at that point the 3 allocated to them had been reserved. Then i got a call from the dealer to say they had one of the '1's up for grabs again and would i like it.

So i thought about it for 2 or 3 seconds...

The rest as they say is history!

Seeing as I'm only young 8) I'll just go right from my first car ...

1) Proton Satria (i.e. the smurf) Brand new Y reg- maxed out on 15inch hubs  , full Cerwyn Vega sub and component set up, Pioneer MP3 DEH8400 head unit. serious sounds

2) MY98 UK Turbo - first step into Scooby ownership. Bought her very cheap and regretted doing it 2 months in when the turbo went, amongst other things!! Only scoob I could get insured on - being 20 - and had to pay

Good job you didn't listen to her mate, the car lasted longer than she did!

It was my other half who told me to buy the WR1. Bless her.

Had a '01 bugeye WRX in silver with Blitz Exhaust & Forge D/V for 18month, traded it in for the WR1.

Had been planning a STI & was in asking about prices & just asked would they be getting a WR1 in? When they said yes that was enough for me 2 say go on then & placed order
