apologies,

i'm in an 01 wrx ppp at the mo so can imagine the performance is going to be considerably better in all ways.

However the debate always rages on SN about JDM STI's etc better. Has anyone got had a genuine camparison of the WR1 and it rivals on here and still standby their choice??

Hi,

I haven't driven any of the JDM cars, but to me there were the following concerns:
Residual - it seems to me it might be difficult reselling a JDM for decent money
Insurance - JDM seem to be a good deal more (like double or more - add that up for 3 years of ownership)
Warranty - 1 year - what happens if it all goes tits up after that

As the saying goes - you pays your money.....

My thoughts were that the WR1 was the cheapest car that met my requirements (nice alloys, 300+bhp, easily insureable, warranty). Ok so maybe some of the JDM's/litchfield specials are quicker - but how quick do you need it to be? :D

I know I`ve slagged the WR1 off a bit, but bang for ya bucks there`s nothing that comes remotly close! And everytime you drive the thing, that mid range punch just blows you away...............and most cars on the road!

Just have a petrol waqon full of Optimax following you about everywhere that`s all.

As above! I think that's my main thoughts as well.

I could afford a Spec C or a Type 25 but getting one insured at 25 with a 23 year old missus was a joke!

The only other main thing is (unless i had a remap for uk fuel, which i'd need to declare on my insurance) I'm not too sure i could be arsed to have to use optimax and octane booster.
