A BIG thank you to the good people at Prodrive

Postby chris » Tue Nov 16, 2004 7:34 pm

I had a bit of a "moment" on my way home from work this evening. I was indicating to overtake and had started the manoeuvre when the car i was overtaking suddenly decided that he wanted to pass the car in front. This is down an unlit B road. So he pulls out when i'm level with his drivers door. I remember looking at the B2 which was reading 73mph although as i was accelerating my true speed may have been a little higher than that.

I hit the brakes and swerved to the right, must have missed him by about an inch. I ended up with the drivers side wheels on the grass verge (still at 70mph! )

He finished his overtaking whilst i was pulling back onto the road trying to miss the car he'd overtaken. A bit of opposite lock later and i was back on the straight and narrow again. :?

All rather a close call really. Bloody BMW Z3 drivers!!!

I've had a look at the Scooby now i'm home and all seems fine.

So i just wanted to say a BIG thank you to the people at Prodrive for their fine design which is undoubtedly responsible for allowing me to hold and recover the car and let me sit here telling you all about it.

Cheers mate. I don't mind playing "catch" with the car but only on my terms!

That was very sideways.

Really pleased to know you are ok, I bet you are shaken up. It s a fine line we all face when driving any car, things could have been far worse for you. Mad thing about it I suppose, is that there was not a lot you could have done about it. My late father gave me one piece of advice when I passed my test, that being :- treat all other drivers on the road as idiots.

I know it does not have to go that far, but when things like this happen, his advice is real.

Any get the whiskey down you and have one for all of us!!

I'm downing the Jim Beam like a good'n. Good old Tesco they turned up with my bottle(and the rest of the shopping) just when it was needed

Millie, they're very good words of advice. I'm still a bit shaken which surprises me a bit as i thought i'd be back to normal by now.

Goodness me ! Chris, Its great in the knowing that the WR1 saved the day.

After the Yorkshire Rally, my eyes have been opened at waht the WR1 can do. Sure footed.
