What is it with Scoobynet and the WR1s??

Postby Gangsta Smurf » Tue Oct 12, 2004 12:18 pm

The whole fcuking site is full of tw@ts who just enjoy having a good slate of the WR1 ... they turn every bl00dy thread about MY05 into what a waste of money a WR1 is.

I would never slate any scoob because IMHO they are all the same car in essence and the variety is brilliant with all the special editions out.

They should change the name to something more appropriate like jealoustw@tsnet.

Rant over!!

I've seen you defending the honour of the WR1 to the death!!
But ultimately you're fighting a losing battle mate.
Take heart, not all of us non-WR1 owners are like that.

Totally agree with you Gangsta, I stopped posting on there weeks ago, I got totally fed up with the bitchy and childish opinions about the WR1.

Me too. I only look at Scoobynet for a couple of mins and drop in the odd post maknig out the WR1 is superior to get them all arguing again. I then retire back to WR1 Owners Club knowing I'm not really Elitist like I would have Scoobynet believe and I certainly wouldn't slag any other Scooby as they are all wonderful cars in my opinion!!

I don't post on there as much anymore either. It's too childish now, fine for the muppet section but not a main forum.

Oh and Jason, you can get some cream from the doctors for your nuts if they've gone red...

They're special edition nuts!!

Back to SN though, the technical forums are excellent, there is a real knowledge base there.
NSR is good for a laugh and a bit of banter.
General seems to be full of moaners.
The real problem is, out of 43,000 members, not that many of them are true Subaru enthusiasts anymore. It has become more of a cosmopolitan community.
Quite political and VERY cynical!
Having said that I still loiter around!!

WR1oc is a much more chilled and relaxed place to come and discuss all kinds of things without the back biting and bitching.
Long may it continue!!

I quite agree!

I would post on Scoobycity but the orange text gives me a bit of a headache from trying to read it!

Sumo .... don't worry son the flaps have been replaced with nice new glistening red ones!! hehe never going to change them - cause too much controversy which I like!! Added a few more little extras to the beast also while it's been in summer hibernation!!

Re Scoobynet. I know I probably get way to stressed on the posts I reply to but It frustrates me so much that nobody from Prodrive or IM even bother to reply to the derogatory comments that are put on there. Fair enough most people just post up to create an argument which I can understand people want to stay away from but it would be nice just once to beat those B@stards down with some heavy mob from Prodrive and IM about what an achievement the special editions they have created are!

I've just tried to read Brians thread on Scoobycity about 22B v's WR1 and it took me about 20 minutes with a lot of eye strain! Does the text have to be orange? :?

I guess there silence is a statement. Why should they defend their machines in an environment where people are out to slag off when they don't fully understand the side of the developers and business constraints.

Are you happy with product that you have purchased? If so, let people be jealous and moaning. There is no need to defend the WR1 with educated arguments as it mostly falls on deaf ears. Let the car do the talking...

All Scoobies are good cars but whatever the latest model/edition is it will always meet with snide comments from people without one. There will be genuine people who do prefer "their" car for many reasons. The problem group are the pr!cks who are jealous. Why worry, just wind them up with equally childish comments and retire to your driving seat to enjoy the thrill whilst they are arguing. Life is too short.

got to agree Bro, I only defend myself and my choice not the car itself. the car doesn't need defending but there are frequently comments implying that WR1 owners have been mugged / stupid / duped into their purchase

as for Prodrive defending the car again I wouldn't expect them to. there will alwys be arguments like why didn't you make a type 25

and they would only end up having to repeatedly state their case ... not enough people use the search function on SN !! if you do you can find a very lengthy thread where Greasemonkey defends the WR1 and the constraints Prodrive have to work under ... I'll dig it out sometime

I speak to IM regulary, i asked them what the WR1 was all about a few months ago.

They gave pro drive the instruction of a Car that was Both.. had Great handling and power that could be used on the track, BUT also had to be calm and subduied when taking Granny out to the Doctors.

Now after thinking about this for a while, it is just that.

Yes we have the Type 25 aimed for the Track use and all out onslught of the English Highways :)

We have the good ole Bouncy WRX ;)

We have the Sti with its PPP which is nice.

Ok theres only a bit in the power now after the PPP on the sti8,
But what Subaru did special was the colour.
If it wasnt for the unique colour of the WR1 they would not have sold as many as they have done.

THe Colour finishes the great package off :)

I know it has its faults ;) but at the end of the day its special

A Special Car for Special People ;)

- que fan fare -

- end credits -

Thank you.

You shouldn't expect to see too many of the WRX in Iceblue if you listen to SN and the slating the WR1 gets for the colour. That is unless they want to try and pretend they have a WR1!!

I personally love the colour. Especially between sunset and night. I think it stands out just nicely.

The ice blue colour is only available as an option in Japan.

The WR1 was conceived to have everything that the JAP imports have with the added bonus of a warranty.

Good work IMHO.

Ludites on Scoobynet still can't get their heads around this fact
