Strut Your Stuff

Postby WR1 Bro » Tue Sep 28, 2004 2:42 pm

I've just ordered a front and rear Aluminium Prodrive strutbrace. Should be good fun to try out when they are fitted on Friday! Any thoughts on these?

they do look cool.....but gotta say I haven't managed to 'flex' the chassis on normal roads......not been on any tracks yet

you gotta be giving it some to feel the need for the struts I think !!

Turkey ... may I ask how much you paid for the package? And where from?

I flexed my chassis a bit - perhaps it's time to fit struts!

I haven't got struts fitted yet if thats what you mean!

Probably will do at the 5k service but haven't felt the need for them yet - I've taken some fairly fast corners but not felt it leaning or getting out of shape on me.

having said that I haven't taken her on any tracks / pavements

Saw a few with them fitted on the WR1 rolling road day.....including Mike Woods !

I was wondering what he meant as well. Are there any other packages you've bought recently CT? :? :D

I've not had the braces fitted to mine. I doubt i'll bother to be honest as i've never felt i've needed them.

I may be wrong but there have been a few times that I have thought they would be good. I'm hoping when you are going round a road island and then turn off left that they will help in that situation because the car feels a little weird at that point. I don't even try and suggest I am a quality driver so it may just be me doing something wrong.

Remind me on Monday and I will let you know the deal. As it stands it sounds too good to be true. If it is true (I hope and think it is) I will fill you all in.

Yeh it was for the Carbon Fibre one. My dealer knows me to well!!! He told me about the stainless one then showed me a pic of the Carbon Fibre bling bling top of the range one. He knows my weakness for a bit of the old Bling Bling fibre!!

If there is a better deal on Stainless ones though I will go and do that! Far to many mods I want to do and not enough cash!!

Think yourself lucky with what you have got at such a tender age Gangsta!! I know what you are saying though. I don't intend messing with WR1 too much. I think it does more than enough to make me pray for forgivness occasionally!! Like SORRY SORRY SORRY, I was going too fast!!

I'm tempted with the front splitter and a blackjax. Other than that my money will be spent elsewhere. Like....

Any advice on playing with a RS Focus and not voiding the warranty would be good?

Lol RS Focus is a toothpick for a WR1 - even in standard form!! I was in the process of showing a RS focus chav (complete with burberry baseball cap) who the daddy was when a Noble M12 came flying past us both on the hard shoulder. I then stopped playing with the RS and left it for dead with a 6th to 4th drop and went after the Noble - which very annoyingly slowed down to allow me to catch him, then proceeded to tear me a new a$$

.... hence me now looking to buy one!!! Serious motor to be able to destroy a WR1 in the fashion that he did!

As an everyday drive then the RS Focus is a good little car. I certainly don't drool over it like I do my WR1. Having said that, the Focus is still worth throwing a few quid at it to free up a little bhp. Anyone know anything about the Bluefin? I have been told Ford can check for the use of such a device? Not really WR1 conversation but the poor link is - Focus allows me to keep the WR1 in the garage and only bring it out for weekends.

Sell the focus, put a little cash towards it and get an STI, a simple mod that gets you an extra 65 bhp AND AWD!! STI during the week-WR1 at the weekend!

I'd sell the focus and buy a caterham to keep in the garage. The WR1 is my everyday car....far too good to be stuck in a garage for 71.4% of its life :?

Blimey ... that van is a beast Brian!!! Respect to you!!!!

WR1bro ... I'd love to have a focus rs as my day to day run around, I thought you were talking about a WR1 vrs a Focus!!

I often think about getting a runner but the WR1 is like a drug for me, I just can't stop thinking about it all day every day - and I could never drive anything else knowing what I've got locked up in the garage!!

I bought a decant car so i could use it every day and enjoy it. I did think about a day to day runner and a decent car a couple of years ago but then realised the cheap one would end up being left behind whilst i drove the other one! :)

Now my other half "borrows" the Scoob 2 or 3 days a week so i'm left driving her Polo anyway!

Thankfully there isn't a Mrs Gangsta at this present moment so I get to enjoy the scooby all to myself ... although saying that the running and mod costs are like having to pay maintenance to 3 ex wives

Previous Mrs Gangsta ... "why are you wasting your money on a 30 grand mondeo with a spoiler?? You should buy a BMW instead so I can drive it too"

... 2months later

Gangsta is single and driving his WR1
